Excellent footage as always but yet again giving publicity to Steve Massey criticising the referees decisions whilst not giving any attention the rest of the decisions that the officiating team got correct.

Not sure it will help Matt  with Steve Massey every Saturday  looking over his shoulder commentating on games. Surly a director of football has other things to do on match day ?? .
The coverage is great mind. Both helston strikers looked very good . What made Wilson jump ship so soon from Bodmin ?

Not sure describing the performance as awful will do anything to help give the players and management confidence.

think there is other ways he could get his point across.

Typical Massey, thinks his football career gives him  carte blanche when it comes to criticising match officials & players.

Nowhere in other words.

Having watched Football at Stockport, Bournemouth, Northampton, Hull City & Wrexham, classing it as 'nowhere' is a little harsh.

Excellent matchday experiences and the respective supporters are both passionate about their clubs and the players who served there.

I'm sure Mr Massey is fondly remembered.

Another accolade for him then - the only person in the history of football to criticise the officials. How exactly did he do you wrong to make you such a bitter little man?

Got to be better than driving bright yellow plant machinery around, main at Kernick Park, all your life.

You obviously know very little about his time at Buckland. Worst decision the club ever made was hiring him.

What giving up his time to maintain the facilities at his club  . What an awful thing to do. I mean clubs don’t need people like that.

No and nor do I care. Buckland are still thriving so let it go. Are you not tired of the continual personal onslaught that he gets. I wonder if that was you how you would feel? The toothless administrators on here should do something about it but we can all live in hope.

People for and against Steve on this thread. Can't see much to get too excited about!

Thank you for your kind words at the start. With highlights it is difficult to get everything balanced. I thought the ref had a very good game - only booking one player. However the linesman in front of us was not keeping up with play and made some big errors. Steve pointed it out in commentary but I decided not to include the worst mistakes.

Steve is a great summariser and so passionate, knowledgeable and insightful about the game. Yes he will be looking over Cuzi’s shoulder (literally from the gantry) but not metaphorically. Steve appointed him and the club has a three year plan. We’re all excited to have Matt as team manager with all of his expertise, vision and talent. The club is buzzing. You’ll find Mass conducting his D of F duties at youth, woman’s and other senior games.

I think the comment “awful” applied to the performance of both teams during the first 10 minutes. It was not about a team or player (s) but the game’s entertainment value during that opening spell. “We woz there.”

Played in the old 4th division just above Truro's level wasn't it?

3 levels above I think and gained promotion with Hull City to the equivalent of the Championship. A good friend of mine played 8 games for Ipswich Town and was as proud as punch. When I played representative games against professional teams back in the day, they were a world apart.

I was under the impression that  Buckland were top of the league when Steve left the club.

Football is all about opinions and I am delighted that this thread has taken off. I’ve added my threepennyworth out of courtesy as I started the ball rolling with the highlights. Mr Massey still appears to be a Marmite character. Non League football needs more of these passionate, charismatic figures in the game.

They were, but that doesn't mean all was hunky dory.

He'll always be one of those characters that divides opinion, not that it's a bad thing.

Mark it doesn’t matter how you dress it up.  It’s not a helpful comment. There are other ways he could have ‘summarised’ when his opinion was asked for.

Bit harsh. Wrexham’s top scorer in their infamous 1970s European Cup Winners’ Cup run. Fairly big club in those days, and will be again I hope… (one of Cornwall’s only Wrexham fans!)

Excellent highlights and a fair reflection of the game. I thought Helston were deserved winners but were almost too comfortable at 2-0 and never really put their foot on the gas to go and get the 3rd goal to kill the game, which they nearly paid for at the very end.

On Steve Massey I think it's great to see someone who has played the game at professional level have such a passion for non-league football. I've seen him up this way a fair few times watching midweek games, just last week I went to watch Wincanton at Warminster and he was there watching. For me Him, Helston & Piran films have all been welcome additions to the Western League.
