Friday 22nd July

Foxhole reserves 2 (James 37, Kerrigan 56) St Austell reserves 4 (Whetter og 24, Araujo 48, Guest 62, 76)

This was a more competitive game than perhaps could have been expected, but the visitors' greater youth, fitness and strength in depth ultimately proved crucial. Prynn had barely been involved until Whetter's misdirected header flashed past him, but Foxhole equalised when James expertly finished a fine move involving Allen and Wilkins. Either side of efforts by Hayhurst and Jones being hacked off the Town line, Araujo planted a header into the corner, before Kerrigan side-footed a brilliant shot into the top corner. The fleet-footed Guest was to prove the match winner, first by pouncing on a loose ball that broke kindly, and then by shrugging off Whetter and Allen to score from an acute angle.

Foxhole (4-3-3): James Prynn; Dan Allen, Angel Coates, Lee Whetter, Josh Andrews; Levi Kerrigan, Chris Brown, Ryan Hayhurst; Richard James, Callie Rundle, Charlie Jones. Subs: Ryan Wilkins, Jacob Mitchell, Sam King.

Well played the super Foxes. Good luck to Town. Many thanks to the referee.

Tuesday 9th August 2022

Foxhole reserves 7 (Hayhurst 3, 6, Jones 12, 32, 70 pen, Kerrigan 57, Triggs 60) Mevagissey 4 (Brandon Chapman 23, 81, Harry Prynn 59, Clemes 86)

Hayhurst opened the scoring early on, nodding in Papaioannou's centre, before soon retreating the trick, this time from James' cross, as Foxhole took charge. Jones made it three, closing down an attempted clearance before calming firing home left-footed. The lively Brandon Chapman pulled one back, turning inside Lean and beating Prynn at his near post, but Jones capitalised on some slack defending to make it 4-1. The Foxes should have been out of sight by the break, but Papaioannou's effort crashed against the bar while Hayhurst's bid for a hat-trick of headers was foiled by the diving Elton.

The goalfest continued in the second-half. Mitchell's clever flick set up Kerrigan for a fine goal, only for Harry Prynn to reply with a low shot off the post. Within moments Triggs had raced on to Lean's pass to beat Elton, and then Jones completed his hat-trick from the spot after Lavery was adjudged to have fouled Allen. It was the visitors who finished the game the stronger, as Brandon Chapman deflected Gordon's shot into the net and left-back Clemes burst through from halfway.

Foxhole (4-3-3): James Prynn; Nathan Papaioannou, Matt Lean, Lee Whetter, Josh Andrews; Levi Kerrigan, Ben Rosevear, Ryan Hayhurst; Richard James, Charlie Jones, Jay Manning. Subs: Dan Allen, Teo Triggs, Sam Mitchell.

Mevagissey squad: Charlie Elton; Alex Bennett, Brandon Chapman, Nathan Chapman, Ross Clemes, Martin Davy, Billy Gordon, Lloyd Grose, Kallum Haynes, Ryan Lavery, Dan Peters, Charlie Prynn, Harry Prynn, Brandon Trudgeon, Andy Wright, Nadir Abdulkarim.

Well played the super Foxes. Good luck to Mevagissey. Many thanks to Dan Catacutan.

Tuesday 16th August 2022

Lanivet 5 (Luke Sanders 10, 76, Gavin Perraton 12, 84, Matt Pearson 80) Foxhole reserves 1 (Bradley Allen 34)

Until the final quarter hour this was anybody's game, but Lanivet ultimately ran out worthy victors. Sanders' finish from ten yards was soon followed by the dangerous Perraton's strike, the centre-forward holding off Andrews to coolly slot past May, but the Foxes' spirited fightback was rewarded when Dan Allen's deep free-kick was headed back by Whetter for Bradley Allen to tap in. With greater composure Foxhole could easily have drawn level but, not for the first time this pre-season, tiring legs proved decisive. Sanders burst through in the inside-right position to find the roof of the net before Pearson's daisy cutter from twenty-five yards made it 4-1. Perraton's excellent lob from the edge of the box, the pick of the goals, completed the scoring.

Foxhole (4-3-3): Stewart May; Dan Allen, Matt Lean, Nathan Papaioannou, Josh Andrews; Damon Mulready, Bradley Allen, Jacob Mitchell; Charlie Jones, Lee Whetter, Chris Dingle. Subs: Nathan Allen, Callie Rundle, Teo Triggs.

Well played the super Foxes. Good luck to Lanivet. Many thanks to Ian Osborne and the home lino.
