Shortage of managers??

Recommended Posts

Seems to be an ever growing list of clubs on the hunt for a new manager Ludgvan, Penzance, Hayle and Porthleven to name a few, is there enough managers to go around? With the games demands becoming higher at the lower levels is it putting people off?
with the Youth Football scene in Cornwall undoubtedly on the up maybe the days of just turning up and throwing a team together are gone even at the lowest divisions, players now have expectations of training properly, having all the kit, social media exposure and all the other bits and pieces found at the higher levels, with all the above becomes more demands on the manager and whoever is running said clubs, maybe with the ever increasing time demands it’s putting people off?
I dread to think the levels of commitment and personal sacrifice from the likes of Jake at Mousehole, Mass at Helston and the others at Western league level it must be a full time job without the salary!!!!!

Heard the boss of the Torpoint ECPL talk about how, even in that league, it is effectively a 7 day a week job. Combining this with a full time job and family life must takes its toll after a while.

Be interesting to see what the average time in charge is for the current batch of SWPL bosses as it was on the final day of the 2021/22 season  (if you don't count Reg Hambly at Camelford or Darren Gibert at Bodmin), wouldn't be surprised if it is only 2-3 seasons.

I’m now going into my 16th season as Illogan manager and still love it as much now as I did in the 1st season

Out of interest, how much of the criteria did either Shane Krac or Danny Lewis fulfill?

Let's be honest ,the two big factors behind managerial appointments  at Combo, East Cornwall, St Pirans, Peninsula and Western League level are;

Do they have enough player contacts to get a squad together?

Do they bring money with them (either through sponsorship or from individuals)?
