Saltash United 1 Shepton Mallet 3

Really poor first half from the Ashes and only a little better second half. Lack of intensity, looked unmotivated, had a real end-of-season feel from the hosts. Mallet were superb, especially for the first 70 minutes, before taking their foot off the pedal. Fast and incisive on the counter, good in possession and solid at the back. They were first to most second balls and the display was much enjoyed by the healthy visiting numbers.

The only highlights for Saltash was a stunning solo run and shot early on by Scott Crocker and a flowing move - their only one of the game - that produced their only goal, well after the game was gone.

Even Dane Bunney seemed passive and quiet on the bench. Let's hope a good first season for the Ashes in the WL doesn't tail off at the season end.

Yep... I don't think a scoreline of 6 or 7 nil after 70 mins wdve flattered shepton. Saltash did improve last 15.....last few mins weren't played as Saltash pretty much threw the towel in and the ref abandoned the game when a player was getting treatment.. Strange ending

Ashton and Backwell were outstanding at Jenkins Park and should stay up in The Western League if they continue to play like they did, continually pressed every Millbrook player and could easily have scored 7 or 8 goals.

Millbrook looked jaded  in the past few weeks and juggled younger less experienced players. Therehas been some strange combinations by Macca Brown playing defensive players up front and likewise goal scorers in defensive positions which have backfired for Millbrook.

Ashton and Buckwell were well organised, very fast on the counter attack and great passes resulted in easy goals for them. Making them worthy winners and deserved the great applause by all at the ground. A late goal by Josh Toulson was Millbrooks only highlight and why Jake Foster never started was a mystery as he certainly lifted the tempo for Millbrook coming on in the second half.  A shame for the young player Lewis who was left up front on his own with no support in the first half and on his debut for Millbrook first team, his potential was not seen.

Millbrook need to re group, players need to stop blaming each other and arguing and get back to basics and get the team formation right. Which is very frustrating for players and supporters
