We Two
A couple of good semi finals in the Cornwall Womens League Cup, pity they are both at 2pm we assume, we're going to have to choose to either travel down to Sticker or pop accross to Saltash. I think the weather may decide for us, in the meantime good luck to all involved. Gary Hocking

Gary Hocking
Sticker it was for me too. Based on the league table today’s league cup semi-final should have been a one-sided affair, with Sticker top of Division One and Culdrose second in Division Two, but Culdrose kept the game alive until very late. Sticker opened the scoring after 33 minutes when their No. 10 (apols but Sticker didn’t post a team sheet so I can’t put names to numbers) bundled the ball over the line from close range after the Culdrose keeper parried her initial shot. Sticker’s No. 8 then doubled the lead on 42 minutes with a pile driver from about 35 yards. Culdrose skipper - and Player of the Match - Rosie Shipp pulled one back on 56 minutes scoring directly from a free kick about 10 yards outside the box, but Sticker’s No. 10 made the game safe on 84 minutes with an absolute worldy from just inside the half way line. Honourable mention for referee Matt Probin too - a flawless game in the middle. Thecupfootballblogger

AmberArmy
WADEBRIGE TOWN LADIES 0 - 4 BODMIN WOMEN Two sides just 6 miles apart and contesting 3rd place in the league. So this local derby was always going to be a keenly fought affair! The first meeting of these 2 sides, back in February at Priory Park, finished 3-1 to the yellows. So there was certainly no holding back from the hosts for this return fixture, on a firm but fantastic looking Bodieve Park main pitch. Both teams started on the front foot, eager to take control of the game. But that extra bit of ‘enthusiasm’ which often comes with a local derby started to raise its head, and after 15 minutes it boiled over. A series of strong challenges flew in, and unfortunately the reactions of others followed. It wasn’t pretty! Experienced referee Gary Cornish did a great job of calming the situation, and probably got it just about right with a booking for a player from each side involved in the initial challenges, followed by straight reds for the 2 main culprits who joined in the ‘afters’. It perhaps took the girls a little while to settle down and digest what had just happened, and adjust to playing 10 aside for over 70 minutes. But it was the visitors who gradually started to shine, utilising the pace of now lone striker, Jazz Allen, to test Wadebrige debutant keeper Aimee Clarke. And the resilience broke twice, with goals in quick succession from Jazz before the break, to see Bodmin go in a deserved 2-0 up. With Bodmin’s young keeper absent due to D of E on Dartmoor (a bit chilly in a tent!), we saw a change of volunteer stand-in for the second half. But to be honest, she was barely troubled after the break, as the visitors kept the game mainly in the Wadebrige half. Just reward came from one of a series of corners, a rare headed goal from Cally Hoskin. And the game was wrapped up with a great effort from the edge of the box from young Gracie Davies just before the final whistle. All in all a solid win for the visitors, which effectively wraps up 3rd place in the league. But a great game of football for the spectator and both teams really put in a shift Referee:- Gary Cornish (10/10) Bodmin Scorers:- Jazz Allen (2); Cally Hoskin; Gracie Davies Wadebrige POTM:- Aimee Clarke Bodmin POTM:- Emily Geach TheolderIgetthebetterIwas, Gary Hocking and Thecupfootballblogger

Programmes that are on offer at some games only name a squad which only helps if teams are either announced over the tanoy or identified on a board in the clubhouse. We thought that this was the norm that all clubs were expected to follow but seldom or never do. An army of volunteers are not needed to write a team sheet on a board for the benefit of all supporters of the game. On a more positive note, we enjoyed the journey down and the game when we got there ( with the above exceptions ) good luck Sticker you have had a great season to date, and comismerations to Culdrose who certainly didn't ever give up.
