Thanks Gary - Dropship Ladies vs Penryn Ladies in Supplemental League Cup has now been postponed due to a number of players testing positive for COVID. Unfortunately it's on the rise again!

After weeks of weather-related postponements was hoping for a full slate of both men’s and women’s games this weekend - I guess if the last two years have taught us anything it’s not to take Mother Nature for granted 😞

Bude unable to raise a side! Points awarded to Sticker Ladies!

This is a format that would do well to be adopted by the mens game where it is regularly alleged that teams pospone a match because of Covid issues within the club yet are still able to play another club team in another league, leading to claims of false information.
If proof of covid within a club is not made readily available ( medical certificate of infected player/s for instance ) forfeiture of the game and points awarded to the opposition, would at least have the affect of reducing the number of games cancelled if covid is used as an excuse to cancel a game without good reason.
To be fair to Bude, they were honest enough to state that they had difficulty raising a team, and we wish them well with their future fixtures.

We have on two occcasions decided to travel down to Sticker to watch their ladies team who appear to have some very able player in their midst, and each time the game has been called off.
We will refrain from any future arrangements to visit in case we are the culprits, sorry Sticker !!!!

And it will keep rising, I was in Asda the other day and counted 5 people wearing masks, the other 200+ were not.

Reap what you sow is a fact.

BODMIN WOMEN 8 - 2 CHARLESTOWN LADIES

A solid win for the home side who cemented their 3rd place in Division 2 of the CWFL.

Losing 3 senior players on the morning of the game saw Bodmin turn out 8 Under 18s in their squad of just 13.  But the energy of the youngsters proved too good for the visitors, with some great skills on display.

The game took a while to settle down and in fact it was the visitors who had much of the play in the early minutes, maybe a sign that Bodmin hadn’t played for a month.  So it wasn’t until the 16th minute that the hosts took the lead with a curling shot from Gracie Davies.   A sunning save from home keeper Freya Speer maintained the lead, before 2 further cracking goals from Elly Woods & Sophie Morford followed, to take the yellows in to the break 3-0 to the good.

The goals flowed in the second half, Bodmin moving to 5-0 early after the break, before a battling Charlestown got a well earned consolation on 61 minutes.   But 3 more fine goals from Bodmin, including one for Callywith Hoskin and a hat-trick for POTM Jazz Allen, wrapped things up.    Or so it seemed, only for Charlestown to grab another with just 3 minutes left.  A goal that many would argue they deserved for never giving up.

All in all a solid victory for a youthful Bodmin side against a physical and resilient Charlestown.  Both teams demonstrating the importance of a having a youth pathway within their clubs.

A win that strengthens Bodmin’s hope of 3 place in the table in their inaugural season.

Bodmin Scorers:- Jazz Allen (3), Sophie Morford (2), Gracie Davies, Elly Chawner-Woods & Callywith Hoskin

Referee:- Alan Howells - A solid performance, not too much to trouble him, but controlled things well and let the game flow

Attendance:- 57

Very much enjoyed your game yesterday. Apologies that I don’t know her name but I was particularly impressed by Bodmin’s No. 7.  The game was played in great spirit too - some crunching (but always fair) tackles but every time the players got up and shook hands with no animosity, and it’s great to watch a game of football without the officials being constantly barracked.

It was a very good game for the spectator. The number 11 for Bodmin Jasmine Allen was the star of the show, skill and fitness levels way higher than the league she's in.

She’s class isn’t she. Came through the ranks at Bodmin and since returning from a brief spell last autumn in the US is back in Cornwall registered with Argyle u23s and Bodmin. But tbh once she’s back in her  rhythm she’ll go far.
