Truro statement - evans pulling out

Recommended Posts

Yet more uncertainty for both the Pirates and Truro City. I know that Dicky Evans has been suffering from the terrible disease that is Parkinson's for a few years, I hope his health hasn't taken a drastic turn for the worse.

This is a good bit of background reading;

Interesting to read in the statement the confirmation of Truro City playing the 2022/23 season at Bolitho Park. Given the state of the pitch (and the on going problems) while in the first season of this arrangement, there will no doubt be mixed feelings about this within the Parkway supporters. It also states that no ground work has commenced on the new Stadium For Cornwall. With less than 18 months to go until the start of the 2023/24 season, it feels totally unrealistic to have football played at the new facility by this date.

Surprised at that. Was talk this was  going to be the last season for Truro at bolitho. Must be another deal struck for Truro to sort the pitch out at the end if the season and wonder what player or players have  been chucked in for parkway for the privilege 😂  .

Not too sure what could be done to the pitch over the summer to improve matters. As Older will tell you, around 50 matches a season on a surface that has not established itself will be a problem. Mother Nature has got to be allowed to do her work, and a decent root system grown over a few years. Playing twice, sometimes three times a week, just doesn't let this happen.

Here we go again! 😒

Absolutely peed off with it all. At what point does the fanbase just say sod it and start AFC Truro. Literally no point to the club at the moment, they're not serving the local community, they're not winning anything.

Isn’t that what afc Wimbledon did After the mk don’s fiasco?
to be fair it’s lucky parkway are successful and a big club In it’s own right  else you literally could see Truro permanently trying to turn itself into a Devon based team

Anybody know what happened to the TISA (Truro Independent Supporters Association), a regular thorn in the side of Heaney and subsequent regimes. Do any of them make the trip up to Bolitho or farther afield? Would have though that if they are still active, then they would be the starting point for a phoenix/breakaway club.

Truro City are playing some great football at the moment. They hoping to capitalise on the brilliant display at the weekend, in London, with a crucial game on Wednesday night. Truro supporters can catch the free bus leaving from Treyew Rd at 1715. There is no other change in respect of the Club playing their games back in Truro. Contributors to this subject are way off beam if they are speculating on any other future for the Club.

I used to be on their forum, but I can't find it in a Google search anymore. There's still a Twitter and Facebook account for TISA. But the last post on the Facebook page was added back in 2020.

That real encouragement that no plans at all to play back in their home town. Feel sorry for the genuine fans.
who funds the coach from Truro to the Plymouth ? And how many use it ? With rising fuel cost can see that stopping.
there just not the interest in Truro in Plymouth 70 people there the other week tells you that.

From what I have seen, Truro can be a bit Jekyll and Hide. They were good against two of the better sides in Hayes and Met Police (possibly should have taken 4 pts from 6, not the 1 from 6 they managed), but are capable of being awful against the lesser sides (Salisbury was the most recent example). Given the calibre of squad and stature of the manager, that is surprising and you have to say they've underachieved this season.

On the subject of crowds at their "home games", they have to get their thinking caps on for the second season at Bolitho. Especially if they are going to attract casual locals, or non travelling Parkway fans. Need some fresh thinking, how about half price entry for Parkway season ticket holders? Half price entry for people who can prove they live in the local Honicknowle/ Crownhill area? Free entry for Parkway youth players if they bring an adult along? Perhaps even try Sunday afternoon matches (might be difficult to square that with the league I guess), just try something, anything. I'm sure nobody wants a Bolitho Park with sub 100 people attendances for the 2022/23 season, not sure the club could survive it.

On the positive Truro could get sell out gates Home and Away v Parkway next season --IF ?

Starting to look a possibility. Victory for Parkway tonight would take them fourth, and make the play offs look like it will be four from five clubs. It would then leave Lee Hobbs' side seven points behind leaders Frome with three games in hand. The possibility of the championship and automatic promotion must be in people's thoughts at Bolitho.

Plymouth Parkway in the Southern Prem would be a fresh problem for Truro, Suddenly, there will be another option in the city for Plymouth based players looking for step three football (hearing rumours that a few may be heading from Truro to Parkway in the summer).  Especially if that means actually playing in front of crowds.
