Billy Davies
Really looking forward to playing at Nanpean today and hoping to see some old friends at the game. No match report tonight as I am on the lash and Mrs D has banned me from the computer when I get home. Good luck to all today and be kind to your Refs, you are lucky to have them. Cheers Bill. rwilliams
Week St Mary 0 - Boscastle Reserves 4 Good performance in difficult conditions today and a clean sheet nice too. line up: M Seldon, D Hambley, T Lyle, C Crook, A Hewitt, B Jarram, R Nute, M Parsons, R Williams, G Setiawan, M Jolliffe. Subs: J Strout, A Washer, A Frost, M Barrett. Game could’ve been very different as WSM were awarded an early penalty against the run of play. It looked like the player tripped over himself but the referee stuck by his original decision. The penalty was saved by Seldon for his second PK save in as many weeks. Boscastle we’re really piling on the pressure with a succession of corners and it looked only a matter of time before the deadlock was broken. It was. A free kick from the right floated in by Crook was headed home by Jonny Strout with his first goal after a lengthy absence. A second followed with a corner from the right side headed back across the goal line by Crook for Tim Lyle to head in from all of a yard. The third came before half time with a lovely weighted ball over the full back by Nute for Hambley to take down and slot home. Second half WSM pushed forward chasing the game but a couple of injuries didn’t help them. Boscastle sealed the game with Williams carrying the ball down the right past a couple players and dinking a cross in for Crook to nod home into an empty net. MOTM - M Parsons. Fantastic in the unfamiliar midfield position keeping the dangerous WSM skipper quiet.
Ian B
Lanivet 3 GSM Utd 2 A game that could have gone either way and that GSM will feel they deserved more from. Lanivet took an early lead when, despite the lino flagging for offside, the ref played on. GSM failed to clear the ball and Lanivet slide a ball in behind the defence. The onrushing Reeham Hussain did well to get a hand on the initial attempt but the ball rebounded to the Lanivet forward who knocked the ball into an empty net. Lanivet pushed forward and forced Reehan in the GSM goal into a couple of fine saves. The best coming from a wickedly deflected shot from range, that had him going the wrong way before managing to swiftly change direction and parry the ball away at full stretch. GSM drew level when Charlie Jones played the ball in to Ryan Morcom, who, seeing the Lanivet keeper of his line, deftly chipped the ball over the stranded keeper from the edge of the area. GSM grew in confidence and on 37 mins took a deserved lead. Charlie Andrews held the ball up well in midfield before turning and releasing Jordan Rogers in behind the fullback down the right. Jordan played the ball in to the path of Ryan Morcom who finished left footed back across the keeper. Lanivet were awarded a penalty almost on the stroke of halftime when Nick Webb was adjudged to have fouled the Lanivet winger. The Lanivet striker stepped up to send Reehan the wrong way but a retake was awarded after encroachment from Lanlivet players. Despite Reehan going the right way the second time of asking, he was unable to get a hand on the ball. Half time 2-2 Second half started with both sides forcing saves for the keepers. Ben Colquhoun having a right foot effort well parried away by the Lanivet keeper before Reehan Hussain was again call upon to a stinging drive from the edge of the area over the bar. Lanivet started to get some joy when their keeper went quick and long from his hands. A mistake on 60 mins when Hadyn Andrew failed to deal with one such ball put the Lanivet forward clear on goal, he took the ball early and lobbed the advancing Reehan Hussain. GSM pushed forward looking for the equaliser, playing some neat one touch football but couldn't find the goal their play deserved. Lanivet were still dangerous on the break, creating a couple of chances they may well have converted on another day. GSM had 2 massive shouts late on for penalties. Firstly Ben Colquhoun got in behind the defence and got to the ball before the covering defender came across and took man not ball but the ref waived away play on. Deep in to injury time GSM loaded the ball in to the box which caused mayhem and a Lanivet defender appeared to handle the ball, almost appearing to catch it as he fell. Once again the appeals fell on deaf ears. Thanks to Gary Cornish for officiating and linos from both sides. GSM MOM - Reehan Hussain
Billy Davies
Nanpean 7 Losty 0 4 goals in the first 10 minutes was not how we had hoped to start against the leagues best team. We did however show tremendous spirit and didn't concede again before half time. Nanpean added 3 more in the 2nd half but we kept fighting and forced Hicker into a couple of good saves as and we passed the ball well. It was great to see so many old friends and play again at one of Cornwall's best football venues. Nanpean were superb but with only 11 players we stuck at it and worked tirelessly for 90 minutes. Thanks to Jon Harris for referreeing and Nanpean for providing both lino's as we had no subs. Hopefully we can make it harder for Nanpean at our place. Cheers Bill. Xavier1
Losty res 0 foxhole res 8 Score line better than last time we played foxhole. Bare 11 yet again today but got through the 90 mins. Held out for a good 20-25 mins before a lucky goal got us. Heads seem to go after that. half time found us 3 down Credit to Ben and Joel up top who worked tirelessly and created a few chances during the game and on another day could have had a couple of goals Fair play to foxhole who did try to play football on a tough surface and scored some very good goals. Definitely shouldn’t be playing in duchy 2 most of their squad should be playing much higher north hill next week maybe a chance at points for the boys
