Tom Trust
Illogan RBL 4, Helston Athletic Reserves 1 Perhaps a flattering scoreline as there is not such a wide gulf between these two sides in the league. 1st half Illogan defended the clubhouse end. Helston looked slick and confident but never got around to testing Illogan's 'keeper. Their own 'keeper, however, was kept busy and made some fine saves with agility which belied his build. The lead came with a 35th minute penalty. This aged observer, schooled in the football of the black-and-white TV age, saw no foul but there were few objections if any to the decision. The second half followed the same pattern, Helston's forays rarely leading to a shot on goal. Their 'keeper, however, was forced into more excellent reflex saves. He was confused by the 70th minute lob from the right wing which, probably an over-hit centre, slipped into the top far corner. A third goal just 2 minutes later was a brave far-post header that the 'keeper parried but could not keep out. The best goal of the game was Helston's, a player beating two or three Illogan lads on a run up the middle before beating Wyatt low to his left - a deserved goal on the balance of play if not the balance of shots. Illogan made the score-line a little improbable on 90+1 when a visiting defender unfortunately headed across his own penalty are straight to an Illogan forward who fired home from close range. Good game from the home or neutral fan = about 45 souls in the ground. £1.50 entry for old codgers, hot choc £1.. Home by 4 o'clock!
Martin Eddy
Redruth United 1 (1) St. Agnes 5 (4) A depleted Redruth team were a little unlucky to lose by this score, but fair play to St. Agnes who deserved to win the game. Both teams played some nice football and had some good young players. Steady game by Ian Roberts in the middle, should their keeper have been sent off ? most in the ground were puzzled. Said after last weeks games about this league being more open and today’s result from perranporth proves that.

telithowitis
Fal Town 2-1 Wendron A really good competitive game at Bickland Park. Credit to both teams for commitment and playing some decent passing football. Town were fast out the blocks and went into an early lead with a driven goal which the keeper had no chance with. Wendron responded well and equalised with a good header from a corner to make it 1-1 at half time. The game swung in the middle of the second half when Dron were awarded a penalty, which was driven hard and low in the corner, but the Town keeper anticipated well an at full stretch got a solid hand to turn it away. Within a few minutes Liam Chinn put Town ahead with a smart control and thumping volley into the top corner 2-1 from just inside the box. End to end as Dron responded well looking for the equaliser and it looked like they might have got it in injury time when a 25 yard screamer was curling into the corner but somehow was tipped onto the woodwork by the keeper. Well played both teams. mattelot
