Sticker Ladies 13 Helston Ladies (development) 1

Recommended Posts

My First visit watching the newly Formed Sticker Ladies Team and I wasn't disappointed as they turned a solid performance winning by 13-1.

They held a minutes silence before the game in memory of Chloe Williams who passed away recently and dedicated the match to her! Helston only managed to field 10 players  so were at a disadvantage at the very start. Sticker raced into a three goal lead in ten minutes with goals from Nelhina Barros and then a first goal this season for Jemima Hitchings who was absolutely delighted followed by Tori Marks who ran onto a neat through ball to stroke the ball home. 3-0. Manager Andy Hoskin made a very sportsmanlike decision and pulled off Jemima to even things up with Helston but Sticker were just too strong for Helston and Tori scored two more goals before an unfortunate accident for Charley Higman as she twisted her ankle and had to go off. In between this a Helston player had a speculative looping shot which caught Brogan O'Brien out and the ball ended up in the net. Brogan had not had much to do in the whole match such was Stickers dominance. Just befor half time the goal of the game was scored by Nelhina Barros when she hit a super shot from range which sailed over the keepers head. H/T. 6-1.

The second half started in the same vein and scored two goals straight away from Tori Marks and new signing Jess Elliot. 8-1. Jemimi Hitchings back on after Charlie Higman departure saw her feature a lot this second half with her strong running. Sticker added five more goals this half with Tori bagging another three and Jess adding a second. Captain Lauren Bennett who is such an assured  player decided to go up for a corner and added to the tally. Defensively Sticker were in control from the off with aforementioned Lauren, Angeline Robinson playing her first game of the season very confident and assured and a special mention for Jodie Smith who had switched back into defence to cover for Charlie she must have covered every blade of grass on the Sticker pitch such was her work rate. Also a big mention for the midfield of Nelhina Barros, Morwenna Albury and Abby Trudgeon who worked their socks off. Star player will go to Tori as you still have tuck the chances away when they come to you but she will be the first to admit this was due to the superb midfield play of her colleagues. F/T.13-1.

Team: B.O'Brien, C.Higman, L.Bennett, A.Robinson, J.Smith, N.Barros, M.Albury, A.Trudgeon, J.Hitchings, J.Elliot, T.Marks.

Well done Razor for posting a report that has encouraged us to make a trip down to Sticker one Sunday.
Sticker has always made us feel welcome when we have visited, and the sportsmanship that your ladies team manager showed is a good reflection of the people who are responsible for the club being well thought of by those of us who have visited.
Although the list of success your club has achieved, both in junior and senior football is recorded in the clubhouse, we never feel that it's thrust down your throat as is the case of some clubs who believe they have a right to win, and individuals who seem to believe that what was achieved some years ago should put them on a pedestal today.

Nice report razor61. Thank you.

Your very welcome! The ladies game needs as much coverage as the men!

The ladies game appears to be overlooked by many who although they believe that the mens game is wrought with poor behaviour and performances, still look at the womens game as not worth a visit.
The local game is still very much in the development stage as the score at Sticker reflects, but can anyone recall a player being withdrawn to even things up in the mens game?
That's taking things to an extreme, but it represents a level of sportmanship that we've not come accross before, in an attempt to make the game more of a contest.
Good luck to Sticker Women who represent a club that always make everybody welcome to their ground, and yes we do have a bit of a soft spot for them.

Yes it would be good to get a few more supporters along and I will admit maybe it is not yet at the same standard as the men but what they may lack in ability they more than make up for in endeavour and just wanting to play. In saying this there are quite a number of very skilled ladies in this Sticker team and a few who look very assured!

Guess we'll forget that then, just noticed when looking up K.O. time on Full Time ther's no game as the match has been awarded to Sticker for some reason.

Saltash unable to raise a team is the reason We Two. Strange really seeing that they 46 players registered. Perhaps the were scared they might get a thrashing!!
