Div 1

Penzance Reserves 4-0 RNAS Culdrose Reserves

Att 55

Workman like performance from the home side. Culdrose had the odd chance but few and far between. Pz 1-0 up at half time but if chances were taken ....

Second half the boys knuckled down.

Culdrose keeper stopped a few by blocking and in one incident had the ball full pelt in his face from 5yds. Must have really really stung. Visitors had a sin bin, 5mins either side of half time. It was a home referee but it made no difference as they thought winding him up and swearing was the way to play football. Pointlessly kicking the ball away doesn't make friends.

New directive out from county, push down on swearing as Culdrose first team found out at Rosudgeon the other week.

Pz first goal, a free kick after ten minutes

DIV 3

2ND V 3RD at kick off. Stand in ref, ex Penryn full back Paul Cardell, absolutely brilliant 👏🏼👍️

CONSTANTINE  (0)  2          76’  87(P)’

CARHARRACK   (4)  5          Pearce 4’ 41’ 49(P)’  Rapsey 6’  Elliott 17’

ATT:  33

Excellent 1st half from Carharrack had the game virtually won by half time. Just 4 minutes in Ben Rapsey’s shot from the edge of the area was well saved down low to the keepers left only for Justin Pearce to react quickest to follow up and score. Two minutes later a cross from the right by Lewis Woolley was chested down by Rapsey at the far post and he produced a neat finish into the far corner with the outside of his foot. On 16 minutes man of the match Karl Elliott who was outstanding in defence and attack hit a 30 yarder which the keeper got his hands too but couldn’t keep it out, spinning into the net. Pearce grabbed his 2nd with a great turn and shot into the roof of the net 5 minutes before the break but right on half time a superb break from Constantine saw an inch perfect cross from the right and a thumping volley which was brilliantly saved by the visiting keeper, good football all round that! 👏🏼 4 minutes after the restart Pearce completed his hat-trick sending the keeper the wrong way from the penalty spot. Carharrack took their foot off a bit after that and Constantine got a deserved goal back when their young number 9 Logan? produced a sharp turn and finish across the keeper. 15 minutes from time the visitors could have made it a round half dozen when Rapsey raced onto a ball over the top with the keeper showing great reflexes saving well from his first snapshot under pressure and even better from his second follow up shot pushing it onto the post. Elliott almost nearly scored a second goal as well having his header from a corner headed off the line back out to him and his acrobatic overhead kick just went the wrong side of the post. Would have been a worldie! The hosts had the last word when a long range shot hit Elliott on the top of the arm and outstanding stand in referee Paul Cardell (do ex players make better referees? Yes in my opinion) adjudged it handball and the penalty was tucked away expertly by the oldest and most experienced player on the pitch who nearly had as many grey hairs as me! There was still time for Carharrack to strike the post in the very last minute from a long distance shot but I didn’t see who had the shot cos I was on the phone! Sorry! Decent little crowd assembled by half time with visitors Carharrack leapfrogging hosts Constantine in the league table after today’s result. Good game played in great spirits, excellently refereed, on a lovely afternoon with 7 goals, couldn’t ask for much more really 👍👏🏼️ Well done to both teams 👏🏼
