Another great display by the G defence against a talented Callington side ,Luke Hunter and Matt Saunders brilliant at the centre of the defence young goalie commanded his area well and made some good saves .Callington did most of the attacking in the 1st half with Luke Cloke a handful but well handled by the G defence against the run of play the G went in front when Xoli Ncube who had a excellent game turned the ball past his own goalie Steve France 1-0 to G ht .d the 2nd half Callington continued to attack and the G Defence held them at bay like they had the other night vs St Austell . Callington got a deserved equaliser by there sub Lewis Milne but it could of been a og .It makes you wonder how a team with so many talented players in there team like there captain Jordan Powell Luke Cloke and others .A draw was a fair result the ref had a good game and handled it well despite some robust tackles by both sides .Mom for me today for the G Matt Saunders and for Callington Luke Cloke

Sticker 0 St Blazey 2

Lots of endeavour from both sides here, but apart from a sublime finish for the St Blazey second goal, not a great deal of skill on show. The visitors tactic is clearly to get the ball out wide and then whip an early cross in. I suspect crossing and shooting practice will be high on the agenda for this weeks training session as often both were poor in their execution. Sticker defended in numbers rather than shape and credit to them for always trying to play good football. St Blazey defend with a very high line and their wild shooting plus some competent and confident goalkeeping from the home keeper, was what prevented them scoring more than the two. The visiting keeper will not have too many easier games this season and apart from a decent save late on, was largely a spectator. Well done to both teams for playing in the right spirit throughout on a decent playing surface.

Great result against a poor callington side? It’s games like this they have to win to stay up this season. 2 points dropped

Enjoyable afternoon at Poltair with two young teams and two of the brightest young managers in Cornish football competing on a t-shirt weather afternoon. Penryn manager Harry Pope went into the game missing top player Bradley Leivers away up Newcastle, pacy striker Ryan Reeve suspended, wide man James Daniel injured scoring the equaliser last week to name a few. Speaking to my old mate Tony Penrose before the game who said Sparky had a couple out as well including his son Josh who’s had tonsillitis for a couple weeks. Cracking player Josh 👍 Thought the visitors did well considering before the hosts took the lead when a good driven ball in from the bottom right saw Billy Williams try to block at the near post but unluckily went in off his studs. The Saints doubled the lead 5 minutes before the break when following a corner centre half Kieran Barrett hooked one in over his shoulder from close range. The game was virtually over on the hour mark when a great piece of skill on the left from George Marris with a little nutmeg before smashing a shot in at the near post. Penryn had a couple of chances for a consolation when Kyle Cooke went clean through over the top but his heavy touch ran out of play and then Jack Rapsey struck a good low shot from the edge of the area well saved down to his left from Brett Allen. The last 20 minutes got a bit stretched and Cam Bidgoods pace down the left caused all sorts of problems and he’ll be wondering how he didn’t score a couple of goals at least, denied a couple of times by Adam Robarthan and then a couple that missed the target, would have fancied his dad Martin for a couple of them chances in my day! Two decent Young teams, very well coached that tried to play football at all times, good to watch. Ref Richard Butler did a good job on the whole, didn’t give any soft fouls, had to be a 100% one before he awarded a free kick, job well done 👍 Penryn did get their consolation goal too late in the day when Rapsey got clipped as he rolled the defender and the composed Nick Boase stepped up to end Penryns penalty jinx sending Allen the wrong way. All in all a very fair result on the day, hardly a bad tackle all game between two teams very easy on the eye 👍👏🏼

Mark - had to wait for your report before commenting. I took the game in as Camels had a free weekend and all went off together to sunny Exeter for a few beers lol.
Thought it would be an end to end game, and to a degree it was - other than Penryn’s missing players made the outcome increasingly clear.

Without wishing to be unfair, several Penryn players did not have the ‘legs’ or fitness to compete with St Austell.

The St Austell left wing could / should have scored 5, and St Austells lack of clinical finishing has / will cause them issues.
I have seen a full strength Penryn, and they are good - but they do lack strength in depth, again something that is costing them.

Worth the entrance fee though

Yeah totally agree Bob, thought the 4 reserve team lads did well today but like you say it was a tough shift against a side that press and buzz around you non stop for 90 minutes. Think Penryn doing ok on the whole and hopefully a respectable league position come May. Popey lost Ed Rowe, and Jack James to ACL injuries before the season even started and Luke Osborne moved to Bath which didn’t help the depth of the squad mate. Heard Sparkys interview on the radio earlier and he was spot on I thought, this team have basically come up through the leagues in about 5 years with a core of about a dozen players plus a few additions so full respect to Popey and what they’ve achieved, I’m sure they’ll be all the wiser for it at this level for next season. Good luck to Sparky and his lads, always enjoy watching them and with him at the helm the future for the Saints is in great hands 👍👏🏼

It was a hard earned point today Cornish led gend wih Luke Hunter and Matt Saunders playing so well theres no chance of them getting relegated i dont expect there will any relegation anyway now that Portheleven have pulled out of the league i thought a lot of the Callington players looked unfit to me  ,the G deserved a point and maybe it was 2 points dropped but they got so many games in hand and they are heading in the right direction they really do need a striker though

A little disappointed with Penryn. First competitive viewing this season and was expecting a high scoring close game. Tbh could have been a cricket score if a certain St Austell forward would learn to get his head, pass to someone in a better position and stop being so greedy. Still, don’t think he’ll change as now 26?
