That was the final where Falmouth's Gary Harrison put his back out tying up his boots!

Tats right Dave-Gary spent the Cup final at Treliske hospital

Rappo told the story really well, apparently it was the first final Gary Harrison would have appeared in at, I think, 34, and had brought a full minibus of family and friends down from Plymouth.

That was a potent young Ashes side though, Brian Hodge was in the process of rebuilding after the 1989 title winning side had broken up.

That was the day Penryn took over the bar two busloads

Getting rid of the Senior Cup/Junior Cup double header was a regrettable decision (not sure why it was made), there sometimes seemed to be more noise  and passion in the ground for the so called warm up match. A superb day of football, great showcase for the junior teams and their supporters and a very nice pay day for the hosting club.

Yeah was sitting next to Gary in the dressing room WOTP, thought he was joking! Remember him saying how lucky are you, you’re 22 and playing in your 3rd Senior cup final, I’ve been waiting 34 years for this day. With that he bent over to tie his laces and his back just went! He tried to stand up but was like the hunchback of notre dam! Was in agony, definitely affected a few of us that day seeing Gaz go off in the ambulance with his family in tears before we walked out, gutted for him, still am today! Then like you say got well beaten 4-1 by a fantastic Saltash team that day. 👏🏼😢
