Bristol MF 4 Parkway 2

Recommended Posts

Bit of a lesson in what life is about at step 4 level for Parkway. A long midweek trip to Bristol on a filthy Tuesday evening to face an established Southern League side that had several recognisable names from this level in their line up, with a host of players missing or unavailable (Callum Hall, Harrison Davis, Matt Andrew, Jordan Copp) meaning that only 3 subs could be named (Sam Hillson and Ethan Phillips were called in to make up the numbers). Parkway started brightly with Jack Crago and Mikey Williams scoring early to give a 2-0 lead, but BMF got back into the game to make it 2-1 at the break. Two rapid fire goals from corners put BMF into the lead, before the experienced striker Kyle Tooze made it 4. Parkway weren't out played, but the fine margins at this level were apparent. Conceding not 1 but 2 in rapid succession from set pieces will be disappointing, but BMF had the know how to take chances when they came along and then knew when to shut the game down. Ryan Lane getting a straight red for an off the ball incident(and picking up an automatic 3 match ban) also highlights how disciplinary issues, and the needless suspensions they bring. will start to hurt. Once again as well, strikers Adam Carter and substitute Tom Bath both drew a blank. Contrast that with BMF having the much travelled Owen Howe in their ranks who is league top scorer (even though he missed out on Tuesday).

Much to take from the game, and a reminder of the challenges to come in this first season as members of a tough league. No doubt Lee Hobbs and Matt Cusack are intelligent enough to take this in and respond accordingly.

Be interesting to watch the response Saturday  mind looking at the weather it will be touch and go if it’s on. I better get the wet weather gear out.
that was always a tough game to be fair Bristol manor farm have some good players all experienced in that league.
but this striker situation needs sorting out.
I’m not convinced by either at min but you have to give Tom bath a run of 10  games to find his fork. Carter for me is way of the pace and standard for southern league football. He struggled for Bodmin a few weeks back.
also get Andrews back in there. He a big miss when he out the team.
