Duchy League game 25/09

Recommended Posts

Sad to see no Duchy fixtures or reports for yesterday, so here goes.

Losty 3 St Columb 5

Firstly thanks to ref Chris Nicholls who didn't get everything right but then neither did I and without Chris there wouldn't have been a game. A cracking Duchy game with a brilliant atmosphere thanks to the large number of St Columb fans who enjoyed their day and the effort of all involved. Losty took an unexpected lead with a brilliant Liam Rooney effort but after going close on a number of occasions equalised before half time. St Columb dominated for large periods but Losty worked hard and defended bravely until 2 quick goals put St Columb 3-1 up. Losty found some belief and 2 quick goals in reply from Jordan Cummings and Nathan Cummings made it 3-3. St Columb made a couple of changes and in the end class told with 2 late goals and St Columb winning 5-3. An enjoyable game to play in with everyone involved giving their all. The best team won but a depleted Losty showed charachter and determination to push them all the way. Good luck to Kasey and his team who will be challenging on all fronts and I am looking forward to the return. Cheers Bill.

Delabole 1 losty res 1

11 men no ref and no linesman and lostwithiel still come away with a point

dubious penalty early on out us a goal Down although ronan Cummings almost saved it. Lots of chances for the home side all afternoon with our keeper very busy but met all challenges

1-0 down at half time a change of formation and a more direct style lead to a long goal kick from being missed by the defence the keeper spilt it before I was able to grab my first goal for the club and poke it home wild celebrations followed. Back to the walls defending for the last 15 minutes lots of good chances wasted by delabole. 1-1 the final score good point for us

man of the match definitely ronan Cummings for his saves in net and his assist for my goal. We go again next week home to biscovey

Biscovey 1 - Boscastle 0

Boscastle side: M Seldon, A Hewitt, T Lyle, C Crook, A Tapley, B Jarram, R Williams, R Nute, J Gibson, A Williams, M Parsons. Subs M Heard, G Setiawan, M Barrett.

Bad day at the office for Boscastle and to be honest 1-0 flattered us as it could have been so many more. The only goal of the game came early on in the first half with Biscovey attacking down the left side and getting the better of the sliding defender before smashing the ball away. The home side completely dominated the first half and nearly doubled the lead when a goal line clearance from Tapley cannoned against the post. Second half was more of the same with chances flashing past the post and guilt edge chance volleyed straight into the away keepers hands. Boscastle nearly grabbed an unlikely (and undeserved) equaliser in the final 20 minutes with substitute Setiawan taking the ball down, shifting onto his left foot and hit a rasping drive from 20 yards which the keeper got down well to turn behind. One of the very few chances we created on the day and the home side were well deserved winners.

Special thanks to the referee. Didn't catch his name but we were not allocated a referee for this fixture and it just so happened he was on the sidelines watching and decided to step in and help. After a hip operation 4 months ago! Had a decent game in there and saved the home manager doing it.

Tintagel 1-7 lifton

Another game without an appointed referee but an ex official was available to help out and greatly appreciated by both teams.
a game with the opening exchanges saw some chances at both ends with lifton hitting both posts and tintagel shooting narrowly wide, lifton opened the scoring with Charlie Wevill opening the scoring with a lob in to the far corner.
Tintagel with some good play starting by there corner flag and creating space through the midfield to open up after a failed interception from the lifton defenders left the tintagel player through 1-1. This result was seen out at half time.
the second half saw lifton dominate the attack and start to create more chances and Wevill doubled his tally with a smart shot inside the box.
with there tails up lifton made it 3 through Brandon ambrose with good feet to create space before firing low past the keeper.
liftons 4th and Wevill’s 3rd came from a cutting ball from Ambrose to open up the defence and leave Wevill 1-1 to score from the edge of the area, Wevill’s 4th and liftons 5th came in similar fashion to his 3rd with a ball from ambrose to send him 1-1 and another strong finish.  Liftons 6th came from a goal mouth scramble which saw Craig charnock score from inside the 6 yard box with players around him. Ambrose doubled his tally with a strong run from midfield through the defence with a powerful shot past the tintagel ’keeper.

it was a great contest and tintagel didn’t give up regardless of the score line trying to create space and chances even in the dying minutes.
