I see Liam eddy played for Helston 3rds and scored against rosudgeon last night .Strange that helston have to borrow a player from St Blazey ,what's wrong with their own reserves or 1rst team players stepping up ?

Wendron 4-6 Penryn (Davies X3, Pridham, Cooke X2)

Att 25ish

A really odd game, don't think I've ever been involved in a 6-4 scoreline before but glad to get the win. Game Played on the banana pitch behind the changing rooms, to be fair I've never seen the pitch look as nice, credit to the Wendron groundsman, 1st team pitch looked absolutely superb also.

Penryn shot downhill 1st half, with the wind & dominated play from the off. We missed a fair few chances early on & I did wonder if we would be made to pay the price for our poor finishing. That changed on 15 mins when 18 year old Jak Davies burst through & fired his shot into the top corner, shortly after Davies grabbed his 2nd when he climbed at the back post to fire a header into the roof of the net after a lovely Kyle Cooke cross. Penryn made it 3-0 on the half hour mark with Chris Pridham reacting quickest to score from 10 yards after the Wendron goalkeeper saved Jason Roberts shot. Penryn went in at ht 3-0 up & in total control. No1 could predict what was to come, 2 mins after the restart the Wendron left back picked up the ball on the touchline, well inside his half & lobbed the Penryn keeper from 50 yards. After a couple poor Penryn defensive errors & decent finishes Wendron were level within 10 mins & well on top, at that point it looked like there was only 1 team that would win the game. Penryn dug in & went ahead again when Kyle Cooke used his pace to get in behind the Wendron backline before slotting home at the near post, Penryn scored a 5th when the impressive Jak Davies again was put through & again made no mistake smashing the ball past the home keeper. Wendron hadn't given up & pulled 1 back with 10 mins to go from a corner which Penryn failed to deal with. Dron were once again on top & pushing for the equaliser when Penryn were awarded a free kick 25 yards out. Kyle Cooke curled around the wall & into the bottom corner to finally kill the game off.

We made hard work of it but nice to get the win & maintain our 100% start to the season. Jak Davies was absolutely unplayable on the day & was the difference between the sides. Thanks to Wendron for the hospitality & look forward to welcoming you to Kernick later in the year.

@Glen Pattersonwhat a player young Jak is!! That's what, 12 goals for Penryn and Dropship In his last 5 games?

Yes, he already goes with Penryn 1st team when we don't have a game, I'm sure it won't be long until they take him full time. He scored loads in pre season too, including 5 in 1 game. Even more impressive when you consider he missed all of last season through injury & had only played about 10 competitive games of men's football in his life.
