Plenty of women do the job in both men's and women's football.
shots
I’m trying to look @ the referees position from all sides, but have never been one, only involved in football admin since 1984! The FA decided that referees could give straight reds, fines could be £50 with no practical right of appeal. So players @ our level have no right of appeal, therefore referees are god. I’m told that refs can go home and press a button on their computers, sorted! The player has to find £50 & go without his sport sometimes for a long time. Only trying to point out why refs might be unpopular through no fault of their own, but by the way the FA think. Yours in Sport

Yours in Sport Always a right to appeal any sendings off, however, without video evidence it is the clubs words against the referee. The referee will almost always be backed, understandably so as they have gone through training, exams and observations to ensure their competence. Video Evidence being the only method of appeal basically gives the ref a free pass against any appeal. An unfair system IMO, bar about 3/4 clubs locally that have the facilities regarding video cameras on the game. It would be nice if there was a proper appeals system, with the player and a club representative perhaps speaking to someone from the FA/Cornish FA/League, giving reports etc. Would make it more of a fair system and potentially allow for more humanising of ref's as oppose to allowing them to be deemed untouchable, beneficial for players & the ref's themselves

This answer gives exactly the reason as to why refs/Fa might be looked upon in a certain manner. Refs never wrong, clubs never right! 8 hours ago, SCFC said: Video Evidence being the only method of appeal basically gives the ref a free pass against any appeal. Well said SCFC.
