FHFL 2 Frogpool 5 Wendron iv 1

Not the best of games, think the scoreline flattered frogpool really, but all credit to them as they took they're chances and we didnt. Once again the problems with being 4th team manager arose this week, with my keeper being moved to 3rds on friday, ended up with myself in goal and another half dozen changes to my team. but we gave it our all, 1 nil to frogpool at half time, and as we pushed in the 2nd half we left gaps at the back, which they took advantage of.

Mawgan 2 - 1 St Agnes

Mawgan started this game as underdogs and for the first 10 mins it showed as St Agnes took the game to Mawgan and showed why they were unbeaten in 8 games with some good 2 touch football which led to a couple of efforts on goal, and only a couple of good saves from Fleming and a goal line clearance from Jordan Davies kept Mawgan in the game. Mawgan then relaxed a bit and started to play some football of their own which led to a couple of good saves from the Aggie keeper. 0-0 at half time which was probably about right. Then 10 minutes into the second half came the turning point when the Mawgan manager went for the strange tacticul decision of getting himself sent off and leaving the rest of the team in the s**t(although the refs decision was somewhat harsh) This led to the rest of the Mawgan players feeling hard done by and everybody upped their game.

The breakthrough came about 10 mins later when Steven (spike) Hughes got on the end of a great through ball from Matt Ruse and just managed to squeeze the ball past the Aggie keeper. St Agnes came back strong as expected and Mawgan were desperatly trying to hold on but the breakthrough came when the Aggie forward found himself in acres of space and smashed the ball past Fleming for the equaliser.

Mawgan looked dead on their feet and had the look of a side that definatly did not want to go into extra time then with 5 minutes to go Mawgan were awarded a free kick, Ben Trerise whipped a great ball into the box, Hughes leapt like a salmon and got his head on the ball to flick it past the keeper and the ball crept over the line, 2-1 and all Mawgan had to do was defend like dogs for the final 5 mins, St agnes through everything at Mawgan and there was another goal line clearance by Ben Trerise but Mawgan held firm and progressed to the next round.

Thanks to St Agnes for a hard but clean game everybody shook hands at the end and all the Aggie players came back for a drink.

A quick word on the ref who had a good game (although a bit harsh on the sending off).
