Ian Pethick
Big pre season statement for Mousehole today, they overturned a Parkway side that was reduced to 10 men after a first half straight red by four goals to nil. Coming on the back of them turning Blazey over 5-0, I imagine Jake Ash is pleased with the way that preparations for the new Western League season are going. Sparse details from the Parkway end but understand that neither the manager or the first team coach were there. Lee Hobbs was away (reasons not specified) and Matt Cusack was appearing for the Saltash Legends v Man U Legends at Kimberley. Does make you wonder why this date was chosen for this fixture. Perhaps though it's just better to get performances like this out of the way before the real stuff begins, see what the problems are and focus on what needs putting right. Dave Deacon
Lee was actually at the game. Both sides had a few out, as it seems to be with all friendlies these days. Goldy had to leave the action early on when he received a knock to the head. Concussion no doubt and will probably have a thumping head tomorrow and so we all wish him the best recovering. He was taken away by an ambulance after lying motionless for what would have seemed a lifetime to him, watching family and the Mousehole physio who attended to him all the time. As far as the game went I thought Mousehole soaked up some early pressure very well and once they scored played with confidence with the goal lifting their game to an impressive level against what will be Southern League opposition in a couple weeks time. Hayden Turner got the two first half goals for Mousehole and looked lively throughout, helped by some very good build up play. Parkway suffered a red card for Rob Farkins before the first half was completed. I thought possibly a little harsh with the defender thwarting a run at goal from the attacker. But best summed up by the ref suggesting to a Parkway player questioning the decision that if it was at the other end they would have wanted the same! Mousehole scored early on after the break with Turner claiming his hat-trick. Probably the easiest of his three, rounding the keeper to stroke the ball home. The scoring was completed by Tallan Mitchell who grew into the game and again it came from good approach play, this time by two of the Mousehole subs - both from their Development St Piran League squad - leaving Tallan with a relatively easy finish. A good day for the home side, a long trip back for the visitors!
sportsman10
parkway seem to be really struggling to get going as a team this pre season . A lot of new faces have come in And it seems it going to take some time to get up to the standard Lee will won’t to compete in the higher league. You have to think Richard goals are already a big miss and Shane krac seems to have played all of pre season and looks to be the player parkway want to build around and I’m not sure he offers the same as the younger players in there they could really do with a game and few goals to get the confidence back up
Dave Deacon
Shane Krac was the unfortunate player to be subbed when they wanted to replace the red carded Farkins for another central defender!
Billy Jacka
First twenty mins Parkway looked a really good outfit (which they are) but we soaked up the pressure and then came on very strong there after as it seemed we were much the fitter side. Both sides played some great stuff the sending off was unfortunate but to be fair to the ref who had a good game was the correct result. Most important was all the players got in some game time and we made new friends from Parkway who are a top club and a top side, anyone who wants to know how to move your club the right way to become successful then follow the Parkway model. Hopefully we will see you at Trungle again soon #FACUP
