WENGER SPOT ON

Recommended Posts

Before the Spurs and Utd fans get on this forum and complain about Arsene Wengers excuses after the 2-2 draw with Birmingham, just listened to his comments on MOTD and he's absolutely right. Awful challenge on Eduardo, crap decisions given in Birminghams decisions and Clichy got the ball for the Birmingham penalty.

I know Wengers got a bad track record when it comes to making excuses (the legendary and often used 'I HAVEN'T SEEN IT' for example) but today he's spot on. :c:

We don't complain, we just humour him when he makes an Arse out of himself!

Today, however, it goes without saying that I (as is most of the football world) was in agreement with everything he said re: Eduardo' injury.

The decisions within the game though, the penalties/free kicks, will even themselves out over

a season. The Gooners should have killed the game off before it even got to the last minute penalty, so it's their own fault.

Also another couple of things, I noticed while watching the MoTD highlights,

Adebayor & Bendtner still seem to have issues to iron out (Adebayor should've passed to his teammate for a certain goal when 2-1 up) and,

William Gallas is one crazy mo-fo!

I noticed something on MOTD too .............. Man Utd kicked Newcastles a**e!! :D

Doesn't seem to be too tricky at the moment!!

King Kev's revolution is well underway, you can't argue with him.

The Geordies wanted entertaining football, and he has delivered.....

trouble is, it's all at the wrong end!!!

I thought the saddest part of the whole game was the Geordies going home about 5 minutes into the second half. Now there's dedication to your team. Maybe they wanted to get home in time for the rugby?

I notice he has withdrawn his comments....................what does that mean?

he has withdrawn his comments so he doesnt get a telling off/fine/ban from the F.A for his original comments about that f****** dirty b****** Taylor.

As for Mcleish--u must be f****** blind and stupid to believe Taylor when he told you he hardly touched Eduardo!!!!

Wengers original comments are right-he should be banned for life/or banned till Eduardo returns to the game--if he ever will!!! (specialists believe his career could be over, only time will tell)

for a better view on the challenge go to youtube and its there for all to see,or go to arseblog.com and check the pic-Taylors foot is at least a foot above floor and studs up!!! disgusting!!!!

that is why he should be banned for life!!!!!

Hope you get well soon Eduardo aka Dudu!!!

Even alan hansen thought arsenal were robbed! Thats saying something. Wenger is right about teams kicking arsenal to beat them, every team, supporter always say "arsenal dont like it physical or dont like it when they go in hard". Its a shame because it has now resulted in a world class player maybe not ever playing again :(

This horrible incident was just waiting to happen. These over the top tackles have been creeping into

the game this season. The authorities must take the blame.I can remember,Dirk Kuyt,Joey Barton.Nani,

all commiting over the top tackles, only receiving yellow cards. Then the F.A say that the referree has dealt

with the situation.Only last week William Gallas blatantly kicks out at an opponent, and nothings done.

These people make a rod for their own backs.

I agree Taylor,should receive a lengthy ban.Will the F.A.step in and do something.I doubt it.The reply

will be the rules state a straight red card,3 match ban.

I think Taylor staying banned until Eduardo returns[if he does],is a step in the right direction.

what people need to do is take a step back and review the tackle yes it was a bad challenge but not any worse than those that happen all over the country in every match, but to come out and say the guy should be banned is a complete joke and hats off to wenger for whatever reason for retracting his statement.

unfortunately for eduardo he has suffered a sickening injury that could end his career, but the tackle was not that bad but the outcome was. Off the top of my head I can think of 5-6 challenges that have been shown on motd this season that were ten times worse than the tackle the birmingham guy made, people jumping in two footed from a distance with both feet of the ground what did eduardo was that his foot was well planted.

Unfortunately its time to move on and wish eduardo a speedy and succesful recovery.

Sensible feedback, Crosser. I appreciate that somebody has to be held accountable, it's really tough for Eduardo as he was in great form. Suggesting that Taylor is banned for life seems a little bit extreme though. I am sure the FA will do what they choose, if I recall the longest ban dished out in a while was for Ben Thatcher when he left Pedro Mendes unconscious with what looked like a very deliberate elbow to the head. He got eight games, so I would be very surprised if Taylor was punished with more, as it appeared that he was trying to win the ball, but didn't.

The petition seems a bit extreme. Anita, do you think there should have been a petition to get Mark Clattenburg struck off for failing to notice Dirk Kuyt turning into a human landmine in an attempt to destroy Phil Neville in the Derby?!

was trying to win the ball?? what planet have you been on?? the ball was rolling on the deck and yet taylor with both feet off the floor in a karate style kick-straight legged studs up made contact halfway up dudu's shin!! thats over a foot off the floor where the ball was!!

explain that to me?? because as far as im concerned if he was trying to win the ball he should have been sliding along the floor with studs pointing down(not going studs up)and should never have gone in straight legged, foot raised no higher than 15-20cms off the floor (rough height of ball) if he had done this, this topic would not even be here!!!!

just look at these pics (some may find the images very distressing)!!!! goin for the ball?? i think not

as for dirk kuyts sick lunge-yes it was a shocker but he didnt have the guts to get even near makin contact to p. nevs!!!

smithy the problem is you say thats a two footed challenge thats not two footed why don't you check out the other eduardo topic and view the clip i just posted of mr henry thats two footed.

and there's no way taylor should get the same sort of ban as that thug thatcher i've posted a link to that clip as well so people can remember what a violent challenge really is

i have never once said it was a ywo footed challenge,i said both feet off the deck,if you jump up two feet are immediately off deck!!

thatcher is a thug, but what im trying to point out is that there is no way that taylor wanted to fairly play the ball!! if he did like ive already said, we would not be talkin about it now!!

was trying to win the ball??

Ok, let me put it this way. Did Taylor set out to completely miss the ball and snap Eduardo's leg to pieces? I would like to think that he didn't.

It was a crap tackle, he should have been trying to execute a textbook tackle (as per your description) but it didn't happen. How many times do you see mistimed and over the ball challenges? Quite a few, but thankfully without such disastrous consequences. It seems to be creeping into the game more and more.

I have been horrified with the footage and images that I have seen and I hope nothing like this happens again, however, if something isn't done to prevent these horrendous challenges, I worry that this won't be the last time we see something of this nature.

But I guess that accidents do happen, sadly there have been some shocking tackles and also perfectly fair challenges that have resulted in equally horrific injuries. I guess with any contact sport there is an element of risk involved, it's just sad that these circumstances led to such an awful outcome.

Most importantly, Taylor has done the right and decent thing and made an effort to visit Eduardo to apologise. I just hope Eduardo can pull on an Arsenal shirt again in the near future.

we are talking about it now because of the injury eduardo received no other reason

we are talking about because

1. it was an absolutely disgraceful challenge (main reason)

2.eduardo ended up possibly to never play again

so because of the extent of the injury, why did you bring up Kuyt and all the other two footed lunges that didnt result in breaks??

we still talking bout them are we not??

like i said if taylor had gone in to play the ball we would not be talking bout it now

ok without going into this to deepfully the main reason there are two topics on this is because of the injury received by edurado the reason the other tackles have been brought into the topics is because you and others have stated 1. it was an absolutely disgraceful challenge (main reason) and the guy should be banned for life!!!!! the point of bringing up the other tackles and clips was to point out the far worse tackles have been made in the past and no further sanction has been taken against the player concerned apart from thatcher and cantona ( his was on a fan though!!) if edurado had not received a broken leg people would have been saying that was a bad challenge they would not have been saying he should be banned for life.

Getting fed up with saying this now but people need to take a step back relax and review the incident not by looking at photos but watching the video in real time.
