Keith B 1,420
Well my word - didn't those young lads do well against arguably one of the best teams in Europe. Until the 60th minute, they held out by fantastic resolute defending. They chased, harassed and got into the faces of the Liverpool players, not letting them settle on the ball until, many of them were completely shattered. I can imagine a number of these young lads will have scouts and coaches chasing after them with cheque books at the ready. Well done these Aston Villa academy lads. A great and fascinating game to watch. The final result was inevitable, but none the less these lads put up a fine show. At the end Liverpool knew that they had been in a match. The goal scorer for Villa, a young lad that cost them just under a million from Barcelona, took his goal with coolness and no small amount of skill.
Dave Deacon 0
I liked the story afterwards about the shirt swapping issue!

Dave Deacon 0
Only that the Villa goalscorer (Barry) had swapped his shirt with Liverpool's Fabinho and the cameras were able to pick up the Villa coach suggesting to his young player that he might want to keep his own shirt as it was his debut and it would be a good memory in years to come. We then saw in the tunnel the Villa player asking to swap back which they did obviously but later we heard that Fabinho had given Barry his Liverpool shirt anyway. Nice touch I thought. Bruegel the Elder 1,175
I guess Fabinho and Liverpool can afford to be generous and I’m not sure he would be desperate for a Villa shirt. A nice story from the Premiership though, makes a change!
St Darren 520
They did excellently over one game, but as a team theyd be unlikely to win many games in league 2. The difference is massive. All players can raise their level for one game. It was as comfortable as it gets for Liverpool really. But yes, the Villa kids did excellent and did themselves proud. Wouldn't get carried away with many of them making the level. Same as the Liverpool side last year that played against villa, be surprised if any of them make 5 first team appearances in the next 10 years

Absolutely, and it was great that they did enjoy it. They would have got more out of last night than they would have done in 10 games against their own standard

Bruegel the Elder 1,175
As always at this time of year, lots of opportunities for non league players to put themselves in the shop window. A couple of Chorley players might get a phone call from League 2/National League scouts as will the mighty Marine players when they thrash Spurs this afternoon! Bruegel the Elder 1,175
Does anybody think that Leedsunited is a big fan of Crawley Town FC? At least his team has had an opportunity to eye-up some potential new recruits!
Way Of The Park 863
Watching Marine v Spurs. Usual standard of patronising comments from Ian Wright and Dion Dublin regarding non league football (pub players, plucky amateurs, bin men and delivery drivers etc, etc). If they had done any research, they would have discovered that step 3 footballers are usually contracted players who train a couple of times a week.

Haha Breugel, wrong way around NPK. I'll go easy on you, a bag of national growmore at 7.7.7. is a fine fertiliser for grass as it is for your borders and is only circa £16 for 25k. Didn't think you were going to get away with 500 gram box did ya...lol. Drop it by anytime-SOON! Keith B
