EEL ECPL Fixtures for Monday 28th December

A much improved performance from Marjons after some lacklustre performances recently who can count themselves unlucky not to take home all 3 points.  Marjons started the brighter and took the lead with a great strike from distance from Ethan Jones. SD created little throughout the first half with Marjons snuffing out any attempts on goal until a few minutes before half time when SD were awarded a penalty for a fairly innocuous challenge, the penalty was scored and 1-1 half time.  The second half was played in the same manner with the pace of Marjons being a threat, it was from a break away that Marjons won a penalty when Jones was brought down. In truth, I’ve seen these not given but grateful all the same, however the home keeper pulled off a great save to keep the score level. Not long after, Marjons did retake the lead when James Greenley scored with a nice finish when put clean through. SD did create some chances without really testing the keeper but an equaliser did come from another penalty. The decision was frankly appalling with the attacker sliding and falling into the defender (that’s as generous as I can put it) with the referee somehow pointing to the spot. When the home linesman and supporters are saying it’s a poor decision it says it all. To compound matters, Marjons were down to 10 men as a result of the decision.  SD won several corners in the closing stages which were a threat in the strong wind but Marjons held out. Hopefully this performance and result will get Marjons back on track after a promising start to the season that went off the rails recently

Heard Liam cheeks and John Raikes been sacked for a replacement to bring more youth to the St Blazey set up to bring the them on for the first team? Can anyone confirm this? Seems strange mid way through a pandemic and season? Maybe it’s happening at the end of the season?

This may well be the end of the season.
There are so many rumours about who will be managing and playing for the St. Blazey first and second teams, the answer is; nobody for the foreseeable future. So just relax let the authorities and committee do their jobs and await an announcement from the Club in due course!
