The Torpoint Massive Posted December 20, 2020 Report Share Posted December 20, 2020 Report – Saturday 19th December 2020 Torpoint Athletic v Torrington AFC SWPL Premier Division East With Robbie Morris at The Mill Torpoint Athletic are at the summit of Premier Division East and three points clear of local rivals Millbrook with this comprehensive win at The Mill on Saturday afternoon and was one of only three games that went ahead in the East Division, thanks to our hard working ground staff led by Bryan Cowd and Bob Jenkins. The home side started very brightly in the first ten minutes with a good amount of chances peppering the visitors goal, the most notable chance was when Curtis Damerell had a shot from 10 yards which well saved by visiting keeper Ryan Walton. On the quarter hour mark, Damerell shot home from 5 yards after a good cross in by Callum Thompson to put the home side in front. Four minutes later the home side doubled their lead whenJohn Heveran flicked home a header off the post from a corner ball. On the 35th minute Ben Musslewhite for the visitors shot from 25 yards for home keeper Jason Peters the put the ball over the cross bar with fantastic save. With a minute remaining, Thompson had a shot which was handled in the area by a visiting defender for Damerell to step up and covert his penalty and for him to get his second goal of the afternoon. Nine minutes after the restart, Thompson for the hosts shot a rasping effort from the edge of the area, which just went wide. Two minutes later, Thompson made it 4-0 for the hosts, with a low curling effort from 25 yards after ball was laid to him by Lewis Pacey. Just before the hour mark, the visitors had a penalty for a player being brought down the area, Matt Ward took the penalty for home keeper Jason Peters to save it, with low save. On the 64th minute Damerell completed his hattrick, when he shot a great effort from 15 yards after ball was put through to him by Charlie Hardcastle.
