This report is off the Pz Ladies Site. They don't come on the forum crowing about themselves so I will do it for them. Well done girls.

BOYD BAGS MAGPIES FINAL SPOT

Tuesday February 19th 2008: Cornwall Cup Semi-Final - Saltash United 0-1 Penzance (at Newquay FC)

Penzance progressed to the Cornwall Cup Final with a dominant performance against Saltash United at Newquay FC on Tuesday, which however realised only the one goal, with two others ruled offside. Clare Boyd's effort from distance was the night's first shot on target, Lyndsey Williams then forced into a good stop in the Magpies' goal. Julie Lawrence went close from a pass by Amber Grose, Kat Dawe then providing the cross for Grose to head, which stand-in Ashes' keeper Sam Drewery claimed at the second attempt, via the post. Dawe's cross also hit the upright, with Rose Knuckey missing a clear chance from the rebound. Boyd was wide from 20 yards but on 33 minutes connected perfectly from a similar distance to open the scoring. After a period of pinball in the Ashes area, Boyd hooked a shot over the angle.

Emma Pemberton had Saltash's best chance but shot wide of the target as Williams rushed out. Playing some good football, Boyd's 1st time strike was tipped over the bar from Julie Lawrence's lay-off. Knuckey had an effort cleared off the line, with Lawrence's follow up hit straight at the keeper. Knuckey couldn't quite connect with Grose's cross at the far post, Becky Hall saw her shot touched round the post. Grose headed Katie Barker's corner over and had a shot turned onto the upright, as the second goal just refused to come. Hall hooked over from Barker's cross for the final chance, as the one goal proved enough against a hard-working Saltash.

Penzance: Williams; Hemingway, B.Lawrence, Bateman, Small; Dawe (Barker, 63), Boyd, J.Lawrence, Grose; Knuckey, Hall. Unused Subs: Hardaker, Hurworth
