Dave Deacon
Just been informed of the passing away of Dudley Wherry. I didn’t know Dudley but another great servant of Cornish football especially St Austell - played for them late 1950s onwards. And in the time of Mike Bickle etc Also a keen golfer as I understand in his eighties, he regularly played to a good handicap of 15. Condolences to his family and friends. We Two
Wasn't Dudley one of the Wherry twins who p[layed for St Austell in the era of the Pollard twins, Tiny Rowe, Morley Ball, Owen Warrick, Johnny Boyce etc, etc,. Some great FOOTBALLERS around at that time, and Dudley was one of them. R.I.P.
MOUNTAINEER
When attending Cornwall Technical College I played in their team, Dudley Wherry was our team captain and easily our best player an inspiration to us all, a leader I never forgot even though it was 70 years ago when I last saw him. R.I.P Dudley. Thanks for the memories. TheolderIgetthebetterIwas
