Losty 3 Tintagel 0

My first game of the season and Losty overcame a hard working Tintagel side with goals from Josh cook, Jordan Cummins and Tom Mileham. I enjoyed the game and it was great to see most of the Tintagel boys coming back for a pint. The young ref Josh did well and handled himself admirably when challenged.

Gorran 4 GSM 5

A hard fought win, as GSM snatched victory from the jaws of defeat against a very spirited and tough tackling Gorran side. A game that had everything, goals, full blooded tackles, the odd flair up, a penalty, 2 sending offs and a last minute winner.

Perfect start for GSM as they won a corner from their first attack after 1 minute. Josh Kendall delivered a perfect ball that saw debutant Martin Giles rise unchallenged to bullet his header into the net.

The first tough tackle came after 8 mins when the Gorran player was late from behind, catching Jordan Rogers on the side of the knee forcing an early substitution as Jordan limped off. GSM forced a corner on the other flank after 9 mins which Josh Kendall swung into the near post, almost catching the keeper out as it hit the post and went behind.

Gorran's first chance fell to Tom Guest after 10 mins when he ran on to a ball on the left-hand side of the box to hit a first time shot that was well saved by Matt Parker in the GSM goal. Gorran took control of the game as they hounded and harried GSM, giving them no time on the ball. GSM struggling to play any fluent football on a difficult playing surface. 15 mins in and Gorran's no. 5 brought an excellent one-handed save from Matt Parker with a well struck right foot rising effort. Then after 22 mins Tom Guest lobbed the ball goalward from the edge of the area but the ball sailed wide of the right-hand post. More pressure from Gorran led to a shot from just outside the area but it lacked any power and was straight down the keeper's throat.

25 mins and GSM finally got the ball forward to Isaak Hayhurst, who broke in to box before hitting a right foot shoot which the keeper fumbled around the post for a corner. 30 mins another GSM chance as a Josh Kendall freekick into the area was diverted over by a stretching Martin Giles. 36 mins, another corner and another goal from Martin Giles as he fired a left foot shot in the bottom corner. Only 2 minutes later and it was 3-0 to the visitors as Josh Kendall drove a free kick from just in side his own half that beat the keeper, going in off the underside of the bar. Almost from the restart Gorran were back in the game, as a long ball released Tom Guest in behind the GSM defence to score with a right foot shot. The GSM defence looking for an offside that never came. 43 mins on the clock and a clumsy challenge in the area by Andy Harris led to a stonewall Gorran penalty that was dispatched to the keeper's left by Gorran No 5. Gorran had there tails up and after being awarded a free kick 25 yards out their No 5 went for goal but his effort cleared the bar. GSM happy to go in to the break leading 3-2

Second half was barely a minute old when Gorran's Andrew Whatty got in behind and scooped the ball over the advancing Matt Parker to bring the scores level. Shortly after a rash challenge by Matt Parker on Tom Guest lead to a free kick right on the edge of the box, with Gorran feeling the challenge had taken place inside the box. Andrew Whatty stepped up and brought another good save out of Matt Parker in the GSM goal. 60 mins and Gorran took the lead when a ball of the top caused confusion between the GSM defence and keeper. Matt Parker attempt to punch the ball  deflected off Hayden Andrew and fell nicely for Tom Guest to tap in to an empty net. Nothing more than Gorran deserved.

62 mins saw the first of the red cards as Gorran No 5 inexplicably swung an arm at Sean Johnston as he shielded the ball. The referee had no choice but to show a straight red. The sending off didn't stop Gorran pushing forward, winning a free kick on the left edge of the area. The kick was placed over the wall forcing Matt Parker into yet another save. 65 mins and Josh Kendall stuck the crossbar with another free kick from long range. GSM started to push forward looking to make the man advantage tell with first Shane Kibell firing a left foot shot straight at the keeper and then Ben Emmett guiding a left foot shot wide.

On 80 mins Gorran lost their No 6 who, having picked up a yellow card earlier in the half, received his second yellow for an over the top tackle in the centre of the pitch, leading to a little bit of pushing and shoving between players from both sides.

81 mins and GSM almost equalised when Ryan Morcom centred the ball from the left which Haydn Andrew glanced a header that came back off the post. 84 mins and Isaak Hayhurst latched on to a ball through the middle but was forced a little wide and his shot lacked any power to trouble the keeper. Haydn Andrew, having been moved from centre half to centre forward after the second sending off, then found himself clear on the edge of the area from a Josh Kendall ball from deep and dully despatched a right foot shot across the keeper in to the corner of the goal. With time running out, GSM forced a late corner which finally fell to Isaak Hayhurst, who hooked it over his shoulder and in to the net with almost the last kick of the game.

Gorran will wonder how they didn't get anything out of this game, having been the better side for a large majority of it. Their front 2 of Tom Guest and Andrew Whatty were a handful all afternoon, GSM knew they had been in a battle and despite not playing at their best went home with the 3 points

Good luck  to Gorran for the rest of the season.

Thanks to today's referee and both linos

Queens rangers 4 Lostwithiel reserves 3

Gutted. Absolutely gutted.

From 3-1 up to 4-3 down. Best 1st half performance I've seen in a long time 2nd half awful no passion desire fight or commitment.

Credit to Queens they deserve the win they simply wanted it more and never gave up. Knew they would win the moment it went 3-2

Lifton 2s away next week. We'll go again

Christ almighty some report. Disgraceful behaviour from the home team if the report is anything to go by.

I will never comprehend why grown men feel the need to act like cage fighters playing grass roots football.

Sooner it's stamped out the better

Great post from Ian B , his match reports are always a pleasure to read and spot on , really captured the game  and the spectacle it was . Roche_Raider comment though probably sums up the kind of people we don’t need to be contributing  negatively and maybe should be isolating on roche rock .

Not exactly wrong though am I... There is an influx of toxic thuggish cavemen amidst grassroots; an entitled divine right to be as vile as possible which is somehow marginalised as "determined" to win.

The truth stings
