St Blazey v Newquay. ABANDONED.

Recommended Posts

We can only apologise for tonights issues with the lights. A surge or power has stopped some lights coming on. We left the lights on after the game and by 9.45 this was how it looked. Really disappointing but nothing we could do.

We actually have an electrian coming tomorrow and have received other quotes to get the work completed to upgrade the lights. A job we had planned on doing over the summer but with covid its been a challenge to even get someone to look at the floodlights.

Apologies to everyone at Newquay A.F.C and everyone who came to watch on what was a perfect evening for football.

See you all again soon.

After all the work you guys have put in over the last six months on the pitch it’s a shame to be let down by something beyond your control. The lights at Blaise Park have been problematic for a few years but having organised a solution and then have it dashed by the pandemic is yet another set back of these difficult times.

I presume that the game will revert back to Newquay at a date to be arranged.

Unfortunately our floodlights are very high so having any work done on them isnt that easy. All the electric boxes are over 30 years old and they are knackered. If anything it might get things done even quicker now. Alot of clubs have a full set of lights with 12 bulbs where as we have 24 when fully working. Tonight we had 15 working in the end but not spread out enough.

Roll on Saturday....and daylight.

I was at the game and stood on the bank behind the dugouts. The lights grandstand side weren’t working before kick off. I find it funny those saying ‘2-0 down turn the lights off’ because they weren’t even on before kick off, so hardly a ‘master plan’ because they were losing. Certainly out of St Blazey’s control and to be fair to them, they tried everything to get them working and get the game played. Unfortunately one of those things.

And no doubt bribed the ref as well! 😀👍

Hilarious to think with spectators and so many witnesses, there's accusations that a team (well more club) would resort to such a Machiavellian/Bond villain tactic in order to prevent a result going against them and risk impending proverbial punishment from the Cornish FA.... The logic on here sometimes...😄😄😄
