SWPL Division One West

Penzance 1, Millbrook 1

Still too cold to write too much more! ... Shaun Jones gave Millbrook the lead after 24 minutes, which was cancelled out on the stroke of half-time by the Magpies' Stuart Reynolds.

Watched the Pz v Millbrook game today and Millbrook should have won quite easily and Pz rode their luck. Millbrook had one dissallowed for offside very close in, in a very crowded box. Pz keeper made a few saves too keep them in the game.

Millbrook defended corners and free kicks with all 11 in the box but were quick on the break putting Pz under pressure as they did not expect that. 1st half they almost exclusively attacked down Pz's right hand side. 2nd half I think Pz got wise to it.

To me Pz man of the match was defender Darren Holsey. 2nd team player Jack Liddicoat also played all 90mins and played very well. Used his brains and booted it up field when under pressure. Other defenders wanted to play around with it in the box putting team under pressure as they kept losing it.

Good to see Damien Norman and Tony Riggall, both reserves team players on the bench. They were not called up but good experience for them both.

New idea in the club which other teams might want to copy. From now on if any player gets a booking for dissent, not only do they get the CFA fine of £8 but also a club fine of £12. Today not a murmur from any player about ref's decisions. Millbrook player got booked for dissent. Another one swore at the ref using the F word and too me should have been sent off but the ref did nothing!!

That performance is a good account of our season. A lot of possession but no real cutting edge to finish teams off. We were very nearly punished and could have ended up with nothing. Great chance for Penzance with the last kick of the game. Very good first full game for our right midfielder 'Oli'.

On a side issue does anyone know the ins and outs of the 6 second rule. When does it start? Does it still exist or is it just time wasting now? I thought it was a bit harsh. When I got off the floor I went to the edge of the box and went to kick it. The ref says it starts from when I caught it. I was on the floor though after the save.

You must have missed out 4, 5, 6 and 7 in that count. I like discussing decisions with refs as wouldn't mind doing it at some point. Without being awkward when I asked you at half time you said you started counting when I had control of the ball. I asked when you thought that was and you said once I had caught it. I then made the point that I felt that was a bit harsh as I was on the floor following the save.

I thought overall you had a good game but it was noted that on a couple of occasions it was a matter of whoever shouts loudest gets the decision. Best ref we have had though for a little while.

It wasn't me who mentioned the rule had gone it was my team mate who plays elsewhere. I had heard it myself before but think it's more that it doesn't get used than it going.

It was only feedback so no need to be defensive. It was an observation and commented upon at halftime. I think you overlooked the bit where I also said you were the best ref we have had for a little while.

When I asked you at the game you did state that you started counting when I caught the ball. It's gone now so not that bothered, I was just interested in finding out the rule not undermining your decision.

We owe you one from last time!!! You stole all 3 points from us at your place. It would be nice to return the gesture. I didn't see much of last year but it has to be said that we are coming together quite well now. Without tempting fate we have cut out some of the defensive issues from earlier in the season. Looking forward to the weekend.

Yes your right mate, we where lucky to get the win in the last game but if remember rightly you made a few great saves from me of all people ha, and i missed a sitter at the back post?? But that aside you lot did play well and to be honest out of the first 13 games we won you lot by far gave us the toughest game!!

Should be good mate, everygame is so important now as if we win all our games we go top and win the league with points to sapre its guna go down to the wire with us and porthleven who are a good side but we are ready and we wana win this league big time!!!
