Hayle 2-3 St Just (HT 0-0)

First half Hayle retained a lot of the ball, neatly playing it across the park, however never really threatened the St Just goal, perhaps trying to pass it too much when a shot from the edge of the box was on? St Just kept their shape well, very competitive and organised, and as a result had the 2 best chances of the half, including a clear one-on-one, where both failed to hit the target (I believe one of the attempts landed down Gwithian!). Towards the end of the half, Hayle really applied pressure and St Just welcomed the HT whistle.

With both teams making tactical changes as well as various subs during the game, Hayle scored from a corner early in the second half then another shortly after with a nice finish. A lack of communication costing the Tinners - goals you feel they may not have conceded if Neil Curnow wasn't playing bat and ball!! After having a lengthy breather, Jack Willis came back on for St Just for the last 20 minutes and with 2 strikers they looked a lot more threatening and became the better side. Ashley Ellis scored a quick brace to level the game, then Jack WIllis scored the winner with 2 minutes to go.

A good pre-season workout for both sides, with St Just showing they're no push overs. Great hospitality after from Patch and the lads as always.
