ECPL
The RRL East Cornwall League are awaiting the return of information regarding the upcoming season from its member clubs. In view of the lock down the league are unable to hold a visual AGM so have decided to send out emails to all member clubs asking to vote on a few points. The first being the acceptance of a new secretary and other members on to the committee. The second is to vote in a new member club for the 20/21 season. There appears to be no rule changes envisaged. With Godolphin Atlantic dropping out last season the league was reduced to 17 teams. It has always been the aim by the CCFA to reduce the constitution to 16 teams and this appears to have been accepted. North Petherwin and Gerrans & St Mawes decided to leave leaving 15 teams. To make it up to 16 teams the clubs have been invited to vote in one team from the following Gunnislake, St Newlyn East, St Columb Major, Alternun. This is true but it's because the FA guidelines are that divisions should be a maximum of 14 to 16 teams in size and that divisions with more than 16 teams should only be permitted if the great majority of those teams have floodlights. cornish leg end
Does that mean Gerrans and north petherwin drop into the duchy prem? St columb major may jump up the whole of duchy to east Cornwall? Sure newlyn east is the best option for promotion?
Rjw87
St Columb Major are a good side and would give anyone a run for there money in that division. They have a young talented team and have a few experienced players also what have played senior football before. I've seen them play against table toppers in Duchy 1 Foxhole and beat them 6-0 in the Junior Cup this season and only lost to Gunnislake away 1-0 with bare 11. They are definitely ready for jump in my opinion 👍
ECPL
I don't understand why DD keeps rabbiting on about the ECPL and Duchy being recreational. The Duchy is the next step below the ECPL as is the Trelawney and the Combo. If you join the two together you would have the ECPL clubs in the top division and the Duchy the next and so on downwards so there would be no change anyway. By renewing the promotion and relegation it takes away the onerous task of voting in or out of teams. A wise decision. So in effect there is no change in the natural order of status form SWPL, St Piran and ECPL and Combo. Surely this is what is wanted, a bit of clarity. claret&blue
claret&blue
Leagues can be called recreational by the FA if that is the current wording but surely nothing has changed much over the years, Except perhaps maybe the standard but that will always be discussed mainly by us older ex players ! I and I would think many others still see the leagues within Cornwall as 1 Peninsula League ( Old South Western League ) 2 St Pirans League ( Top teams from old East Cornwall and Combo equivalent ) 3 East Cornwall / Combo Leagues ( remaining East Cornwall and Combo sides ) 4 Duchy and Trelawney Leagues . Still four levels regardless of what new names are dreamt up by the FA. cornish leg end, Foul Throw 3 and cornishteddyboy
ECPL
Well said. In effect there is no change - the leagues are still at the same level.

But only because there is now a route for Duchy teams to progress on merit rather than votes. There is still a strong argument why an amalgamation would make things even more straight forward in the future, removing the need to fill vacancies, while still allowing new teams to enter into lowest division. baldy and MattP

You have to look at the other side of things aswell... Trelawny League have lost a number of Committee members and Officers over the past few seasons... No-one has come forward to replace them. No-one wants to volunteer - well, some of us do but have our reasons why we aren't. By amalgamating Trelawny and Combo, you potentially halve the number of volunteers required too.
