Ian Pethick
Parkway have been drawn away to Hebburn in the FA Vase last 8. This works out at 406 miles ground to ground, think this has only been beaten by St Blazey who were away to Crook Town in the 2005/6 FA Vase with a figure of 423 miles ground to ground. Has anybody travelled further from Cornwall, and is this indeed a record for all FA Competitions?
Mike Odgers
Falmouth travelled to Bedlington Terriers (Northumberland) 480 miles approxin the Vase which is the official longest journey in the F A competition history (Cup/Trophy/Vase since it all began in 1872) Longer than Plymouth to Carlisle(388) and even in the early days when Queens Park (Scotland) went to London (411)for a F A cup tie. Ian Pethick
Thanks Mike. Found two examples of clubs making long journeys down to Cornwall (not terribly busy at work today). St Blazey v Dunston Federation Brewery (Vase 4th Round, 1998/99) - 436 miles Bodmin v Ashington (Vase 4th Round 2012/13)- 447 miles Mike Odgers
TheolderIgetthebetterIwas
And completely ridiculous at this level. Should be regionalised until the semi's at least. Brianmooreshead
cornishteddyboy
I've said it before on the same type of thread RNAS Culdrose once travelled to play Lossiemouth in the Navy Cup (and won), a round trip of roughly 1450 miles at today's distances. It was longer in the past as there were less motorways, bypasses, etc.
