Early Junior Cup Quarter-Final

Recommended Posts

This Saturday, a week ahead of the other ties, Polperro Res of Duchy 1 face St Newlyn East of Duchy Premier with a 2pm kick off.

After the very fair and evenly contested draw over xmas in the Ko Cup between the same sides where Polperro were unlucky not to snatch victory late on, this promises to be a very interesting fixture.....one to watch!

No one overly stands out but anyone with a smart manager & secretary that can attract a couple players from a higher league asap & get them legal for the rest of the comp will have a big say,2/3 players can make a massive difference

Jason have you not looked at St Newlyn East's squad? They look really strong and are my favourites to win it.

Think you witnessed a different game to me if I’m being honest. Was a well contested game, scrappy with no team playing much pretty football and carving only a couple chances each In which polperro strikers missed a couple sitters in the first half, so you’re being too kind to yourself for labelling it a ‘deserved win’.

The officiating was bizarre too with a lot of questionable decisions and inconsistency along with both sets of linesman aswell. And as for this whole having SWPL in the polperro squad, you guys had Jamie seery at CB who’s played for st.dennis in swpl, aswell as spells with godolphin 1st and st Stephen 1st and couple more players aswell so be careful chucking the dirt around on other clubs.

Don’t think Rubber Duck was intentionally throwing dirt around Ben. All of our players play week in-week out for us and are available for selection every Saturday. His point was more about players playing just because their normal higher league team doesn’t have a game or are cup-tied for Senior Cup and are brought in at the expense of normal players , one assumes, simply to help them get a result.

Agree with your report that it was a fairly even contest with both teams not taking some golden opportunities. The lack of ‘pretty football’ also wasn’t helped by your U16s only finishing their game on the pitch at 1pm (an hour before KO) - not sure who made that crazy decision to let them play!!! We also didn’t mind the fact that we had no changing room and had to all cram in to the refs room - thank god it was bigger than most!

Good luck with your season, we’ve enjoyed the 3 even games we’ve had against you and hope to see you in the Duchy Prem as with the team we faced yesterday am sure you will get there.

Cheers, Jiggy (manager)
