CORNWALL AIRPORT NEWQUAY DUCHY LEAGUE (provided by Mike Newcombe)

St Breward has failed to take their excellent league form this season into the Duchy Knockout cup as they suffered a third straight defeat in Group C and therefore cannot progress to the next round. They were beaten 3-1 at home by Foxhole reserves to end their hopes. Bradley Allen, Matt Lean and Jeremy Pascoe scored for Foxhole with the visitors putting through their own goal for the hosts consolation.

Holywell/Cubert Athletic still can progress from Group H after beating Mevagissey 5-3. Mevagissey gave up home advantage as their pitch was waterlogged and switched the game to Newquay 3G. Holywell started the brightest, Luke Williams scoring after 10 minutes with a nice finish after rounding the 'keeper and scoring from a tight angle. Simon Holmes doubled the lead ten minutes later with a scrappy goal which the goalkeeper almost put the ball in his own net. Williams scored his second after the ball fell favourably for him and a lovely finish took Holywell to 4-0 with a delightful curling shot into the top corner after good work from Lloyd Creeper. Mevagissey conceded a penalty after the break to compound their problems, which Williams put it away for his hat trick. However, Mevagissey spent much of the rest of the half on top, scoring quickly after the restart, then putting away a penalty after their forward was fouled by Ash Williams. Mevagissey scored late on, but not enough time left to make a difference. Poor discipline at the end saw a player from each team sinbinned. Brandon Chapman with a brace and Jack Young were the Mevagissey scorers.

Lifton has qualified for the knockout stages from Group G after a fine 3-1 at Premier side Tintagel. George Murrain scored a brace with new signing Calum Moore getting the other Lifton goal. Martyn Cockcroft replied for Tintagel.

It’s still all to play for in Group E after Gorran picked up a surprise one all draw at Tregrehan Mills. The hosts gave the opportunity to play a few squad members but Gorran were also below full strength. Tregrehan were on top but it took until the 50th minute for Scott Foster to put them ahead with a far post header. In an uninspiring game Gorran hit the hosts on the break three minutes from time to force the equaliser.

St Columb Major open up a three-point gap at the top of Group H in the Shoe Boy League Cup after their 3-2 win at Bude Town Thirds. Dom Roberts hit a brace with Scott Taylor completing the visitors tally. Ben Furber scored both Bude goals.

In the Premier Division St Newlyn East won a tight game with Boscastle 2-0. It was goalless going into the break and this continued until the last ten minutes of the game. With the clock showing eighty-two minutes an unfortunate Boscastle defender put through his own goal with Ross London getting the hosts second two minutes later when he turned a hit a 25-yard screamer. Tempers flared in the closing minutes with a player from each team dismissed.

These are difficult times for Stoke Climsland as they could only muster ten players for their home game with Lostwithiel and slumped to a 7-1 defeat. Liam Rooney and Jordan Cummings hit a hat trick apiece with Tom Mileham completing the Lostwithiel scoring. Jamie Ruse scored the home consolation goal.

There was just one game in Division One with FC Tavyside beating Pensilva 3-0 to move up to third place. Veteran Paul Cowling, Ollie Gourd and a screaming free kick from Kevin Pethick were the scorers.

Southgate Seniors go level at the top of Division Two after beating Calstock 6-4. Craig Charnock scored twice with the other home goals shared by Josh Barron, Liam Cairns, Wayne Francome and Anthony Coles. Ashley Small replied with a hat trick for Calstock with Finn Phillips getting their other goal.

Matt Hawke scored four goals as St Eval Spitfires thrashed North Hill 7-0. The other goals were scored by Steve Masters, Jon Summerfield and Shane Wade.

Queens Rangers came from two down in ten minutes to draw their Division Three match with Biscovey two all. The visitors made a lightning start with Harrison Moss scoring in the 5th and 10th minutes. Rangers pulled a goal back from a Sam Rowse free kick on the half hour, but the visitors spurned chances to establish a bigger lead. Biscovey shaded possession through the match but overall a draw was a fair result as both keepers made good saves after the break. The Rangers equaliser arrived around the hour mark when Phil Walmsley struck a thirty-yard shot into the goal.

Duchy 3 queen's ranger's 2 biscovey 2

As our game was off today went along to watch queen's ranger's Vs biscovey. First half all about bisc had all the ball scored 2  good goals and should have had at least 2 more and killed it off if not for awful finishing from the bisc winger, queen's got a goal back from the spot after a handball in the box

2nd half was poor lots of chances but neither side could score until following a corner a lobbed shot went over the keepers head and made it 2 each. Queens seemed happy with a point and made sure they got it with good game management, biscovey huffed and puffed but couldn't take any of their chances to take the points

I suggest both teams have finishing practice at training

Biscovey will be disappointed queen's the much happier. Well reffed by Ian spurling in the middle although maybe should have produced a card or two

Really enjoyable game to officiate,  game played by two sides that were well behaved , nothing really for me to do , one or two full blooded challenges,  but no reason to brandish any cards . Biscovey took a quick 2 .. 0 lead , but Queens Rangers went in at half time only 1 down. Both sides huffed and puffed in the second half , but it was Queens that fought back to level the game . Great afternoons football,  even met up with a old mucker who came across to watch.  Brilliant day , a credit to Duchy League football.

Went to watch this one with a few others from the sidelines and have to say Mevagissey were incredibly unlucky to lose. They were unfortunate that they could not deal with the rugby style throw in tactics from the physical Holywell side who scored 4 goals from this alone. That being said, Meva ought to have switched on to Holywells only asset of play and practically gifted their opponents 3 goals

Referee allowed a lot to flow but there was arguable inconsistency when a few players were repeatedly allowed to get away with cynical trips of the ankles. Yellows were eventually shown each side.

A harshly given offside for Meva at the end which would have set up a 4-3 but clumsy defending allowed another launched ball into the box by Holywell to cause problems and give away a pen.

Holywell use the artificial pitch to their advantage.

Good game with some good goals but some really questionable defending.

Southgate FC 6 - 4 Calstock

An eventful game in Launceston on Saturday with plenty of goals and plenty of pens! Both teams started well in the first half and it was end to end football, the deadlock was broken when Calstock were given a penalty after a questionable hand ball but it was converted well by the Calstock forward. Southgate then stepped up their game and began to play some very good football but the equaliser was a solo effort from Captain Craig Charnock who picked up the ball in midfield, ran past 5 Calstock players and slotted it into the net. Southgate continued to pin Calstock in and a goal from Wayne Francome and Anthony Coles ended the first half 3-1 to Southgate. The second half starting the same as the first as Calstock were awarded a second penalty which they again converted but Southgate came back with another goal from Captain Craig Charnock. Calstock got another goal back to make it 4-3 and you guessed it, another penalty which their forward converted for his hatrick of pens! Southgate then put the game to bed after outplaying Calstock and scoring another 2 goals from Josh Barron and Liam Cairns with Calstock getting another goal late on to finish the game 6-4 to Southgate FC.

A very entertaining game, both teams gave their all and played in good spirits! Thank you to Calstock for agreeing to reverse the fixture due to their pitch being unplayable and we look forward to seeing you down your place soon!
