CORNWALL AIRPORT NEWQUAY DUCHY LEAGUE

There was just one game in the Premier Division with Holywell/Cubert beating Saltash United Thirds 3-1. This was a tough game in very windy conditions. Holywell took the lead against the wind, Luke Williams tripped for a penalty, Wayne Riley confidently put the penalty away. Saltash equalised about 3 minutes later with an audacious finish after nice build up. In the Second half, Holywell with the wind, took the lead with Rian Faulkner slotting in a nice shot.Saltash were always dangerous, but a well thought throw in by Luke Williams found Simon Holmes all alone who saw his shot dribble over the line.

Foxhole reserves put in a dominant performance at FC Tavyside to win 4-1 and take over at the top of Division One. Jacob Rowe, Bradley Allen, Phil Hutchings and Matt Lean scored for Foxhole with Lee Lewis getting the home consolation.

Jonny Strout hit a brace as Boscastle reserves comfortably beat Lifton reserves 5-1 to secure their first points of the season in this Division Two clash. Darren Hambly, James Bosley and Matt Joliffe completed the home scoring with Liam Rich getting the injury hit visitor’s consolation.

St Cleer reserves and Lostwithiel reserves shared six goals. Dave Hawke, Taylor Johns and Zak Mollard scored for St Cleer with Nathan Cummings, John Pearce and Callum Chillingworth replying for the visitors.

In the Shoe Boy League Cup Group D Grampound have confirmed a last sixteen place coming from two down in seven minutes to beat St Eval Spitfires 5-2. Steve Masters gave the visitors the lead from a thirty-yard shot with Jon Summerfield tapping in a second after seven minutes. Dean Dunn pilled a goal back from the penalty spot with Dylan Fox adding a second goal to send the teams into half time all square. New signing Aidan Richards put Grampound ahead after the restart. The hosts brought on their substitutes with Sam Blount adding a fourth goal and Shane Weeks scoring the fifth to end St Eval’s hoes of progression.

Southgate Seniors all but secured top spot in Group C beating Roche Reserves 7-0. Mark Wilson and Jake Hobson scored a brace apiece with goals from Josh Barron, Craig Charnock and Adam Scott completing the rout.

Delabole United progress from Group E after beating North Hill 3-2. Dan Mountain scored twice with Luke King completing the home tally. Ben Berry scored both North Hill goals.

Dobwalls reserves secured a place in the last sixteen of the Knockout Cup following their 6-2 win over St Minver reserves in Group F. Paulo Carneiro hit a hat trick with Ben Garner adding a brace and Matt Carter-Brown completing the home scoring.

Lifton has taken over at the top of Group G after beating previous leaders Pensilva 3-1. Lifton started brightly on a pitch that has started to show signs of wear but fell behind to a tidy finish from Alex Caers across the Lifton keeper from the edge of the area. Lifton recovered well to pull the game back level with a finish from Tom Hancock when a corner evaded every one and found him just inside the 18 yard box to finish at the near post  Hancock then doubled his tally before half time when a cross from Barry Rutherford found him on the edge of the area and he finished emphatically. The second half was an even contest after Pensilva changed formation to stop the wide runs from Lifton. The game was put to bed when Hancock completed his hat trick with a great finish after some good football carved Pensilva open.

KO Cup group stage

Dobwalls 6-2 St Minver Reserves

Howling wind and bitterly cold at Lantoom but an entertaining cup match nevertheless.

Nothing much between the two sides until the last half hour when some clinical finishing took Dobwalls to a comfortable win and progression to the first knock out stage.

Great to see Dobwalls clubhouse back up and running - well done all concerned.

Great result for Southgate on the weekend, 7-0 and getting back to our best after some recent disappointing results. We dominated the game and Roche only had one clear cut chance which was cleared off the line. The goals came from some well worked football with Mark Wilson scoring 2 and assisting 3, well deserved MOTM performance. Overall an impressive team performance and look forward to Week St Mary this weekend.

one disappointing note is that no one from Roche came back for food or a drink after the game, I know it’s not the score line they wanted but not a very good show of sportsmanship.
