The Windmill On The Shirt
Report – Tuesday 22nd October 2019 Torpoint Athletic 1-1 Plymouth Marjons SWPL Premier Division East With Robbie Morris at The Mill Torpoint Athletic knew tonight, if they beat their lowly visitors, they would go top of the SWPL Premier Division East, however it was not to be, as Marjons defended very well to earn a point and the hosts didn’t take their chances. On the quarter hour mark, John Heveran headed over the crossbarafter a good cross in by Lee Hawkins. Just before the 30 minute mark, Scott Parsons for the visitors shot a low ball from the edge of the area, which Jason Peters, the home keeper did very well to get down low to stop the ball. Then a couple a minutes later, Curtis Damerell shoots from 15 yards to force a good save from visiting keeper Luke Puleston. Five minutes from the break, prolific scorer Lewis Young, shot over the crossbar after a good build up of play by the home side. The second half was only three minutes old when John Heveranshot home from close range to put the hosts in front after a Curtis Damerell cross in to the area. Then six minutes later the home side had a chance to double their lead when Lewis Young’s great ball through to Damerell who had a one on one with the keeper the shoot inches wide of the post. On the 65th minute Elliot Cunningham equalised for the visitors when with good clinical finish from 12 yards after the some good build up play. On the 70th minute, Torpoint could of retained the lead when Danny Zalick shot wide from 18 yards. With eight minutes remaining, James Battle shot from the edge of the area to force a good save from Peters. Torpoint threw everything up front in the reminder of the match, but the visitors defended superbly to go home across the Tamar with a well earned point. STAT ATTACK Torpoint Athletic: J. Peters, P. leedsunited
What's happening at Wadebridge ? Only 2 wins all season. A talented squad on paper, but lost direction by the looks of it ?? Cracking facilities, but looking as if Camelford having the Monopoly up that way at present ..
