Dave Deacon
Not a bad game, played on a lovely looking surface. A close first half that ended 1-0 to Wendron at the break with a goal that came about because all the St Day defenders somehow missed connecting with the cross! However, despite St Day pushing the hosts back more, within 10 minutes of the restart Wendron found themselves 3-0 up and from then coasting to victory. The second goal (probably the one that killed off any challenge) came from a long kick down the pitch from the Wendron keeper who I thought stood out for them the whole game. Well finished off by Trise. The third was a penalty, the 4th a bit of a mess up in the St Day defence and not clearing when perhaps they could have done, and the 5th came 3 minutes into added on time! Good sum up Dave, a night of missed chances for the saints and it cost us very dearly. Played on the main pitch which, as Dave says was immaculate and yes the Wendron GK who i was told was only 16, made two stand out saves one in each half. Well done to Wendron and thank god that's the end of mid week fixtures for our reserve team, playing two games this week and both evening games did seem to be obvious with players looking tired. Up the saints
