Basics11 Posted May 5, 2019 Report Posted May 5, 2019 What do people think I have heard of couple Plymouth P&D Pub teams applications have gone in to the east cornwall league. How will the votes go ???
karaoke Posted May 5, 2019 Report Posted May 5, 2019 I believe only one and who would want to play on a Plymouth council pitch
hedgerow Posted May 5, 2019 Report Posted May 5, 2019 If it’s a team who I think it is, they lease the pitch from the Council The League will need to check out the facilities, and let the clubs vote at the League AGM in June
Dave Deacon Posted May 5, 2019 Report Posted May 5, 2019 I was told recently that as the Cornwall Combination and East Cornwall Premier Leagues are now classed as “recreational level football” , this means the “ground grading / required facilities standards” can’t be applied and in effect no one can be declined for facilities reasons! I’m not sure if anyone in the know can confirm or deny this?
Basics11 Posted May 5, 2019 Author Report Posted May 5, 2019 I just believe it’s east cornwall and should be one league next year other than Plymstock as they have been in it for years should just be cornwall sides. Lakeside Elburton Parkway all last one maybe 2 seasons and then leave. Got enough teams if we have one league and also with teams from Dutchy prem that may want to step up. MattP 1

Jason Prynne Posted May 5, 2019 Report Posted May 5, 2019 surely the clue is in the name east CORNWALL,would rather they looked to bring one or 2 more up from duchy prem with the likes of St Mawgan,Sticker 2"s & the G more than keen i"d of thought to do so & step up with Foxhole Jimmer06 and Basics11 2
Basics11 Posted May 5, 2019 Author Report Posted May 5, 2019 Yeah that’s my thinking well it’s up to the teams when it comes to a vote. Don’t think I would like to travel to Plymouth to play on a council pitch.

hedgerow Posted May 5, 2019 Report Posted May 5, 2019 You are right though, I should have known myself when it was posted.
Richard Rundle Posted May 5, 2019 Report Posted May 5, 2019 Mount Gould play at the Tothill Enclosure, Lanhydrock Road (perhaps that's their connection to East Cornwall!), Plymouth It's not a great venue, easily visible from the aforementioned road but isn't a lot worse than say Plymstock or St Stephen. It woundn't be a great addition to the league. They have been a very good side over the last few seasons, and the team itself would be a good addition (playing wise) to the league.
Basics11 Posted May 6, 2019 Author Report Posted May 6, 2019 Fair enough well we will see just think it’s a Cornish league should give cornwall clubs the opportunity to step up not Plymouth teams karaoke and MattP 2

What’s wrong with st Stephen
MattP Posted May 6, 2019 Report Posted May 6, 2019 Always been a great surface at St Stephen when we’ve been there. Bit of a bogey ground for us mind! coady-9 and Jimmer06 2
karaoke Posted May 6, 2019 Report Posted May 6, 2019 How can you compare Tothill Dog Patch with any ground in Cornwall, no clubhouse, crap changing rooms and a awful council pitch. Martin Hunn and MattP 2
coady-9 Posted May 6, 2019 Report Posted May 6, 2019 Let’s be honest east Cornwall league has been a joke for a few years now hopefully reverting back to one league will help next season to allow Plymouth teams again would be silly when st mawgan foxhole sticker godolphin etc want to step up
Jimmer06 Posted May 7, 2019 Report Posted May 7, 2019 100% in favour of promoting more clubs from Duchy Prem instead. Plenty of them deserve to go up, East Cornwall Div 1 standard isn't that great at the minute (possibly worse than Duchy Prem) With East Cornwall going down to one league and lots of EC Prem teams moving to St Piran League then surely its only right to promote more teams from Duchy. Would make East Cornwall much more appealing again which it's lost over the last few years. Get rid of Div 4 in Duchy and have Prem down to 3 with 14 in each league (Not done exact math but you get the idea) MattP 1

Because surely Senior Cup requires better facilities?
Dave Deacon Posted May 7, 2019 Report Posted May 7, 2019 it’s an interesting thought! With the new step 7 league on its way, I suppose it might be the opportunity to seriously consider it.
ECPL Posted May 8, 2019 Report Posted May 8, 2019 Change the name of the league. Been saying it for years. And no it is still a senior league. As the St Piran league said according to them there is no change as the ECPL is just below the current SWPL East/West. Now that the SWPL has been split into One league two premier divisions the St Piran league is the next step down so no change from what was East and West.
rob brown Posted May 9, 2019 Report Posted May 9, 2019 Who knows how many sides are actually going to leave the ecpl for this new league??
Dave Deacon Posted May 9, 2019 Report Posted May 9, 2019 Unless any decisions made soon to not enter, I guess the current ECPL teams leaving will be:- AFC St Austell Reserves Saltash United Reserves Torpoint Athletic FC Reserves Polperro AFC Wadebridge Town Reserves
Basics11 Posted May 12, 2019 Author Report Posted May 12, 2019 I have heard Polperro is staying in east cornwall now
