Paul Collings Posted April 28, 2019 Report Posted April 28, 2019 The reserve teams of local rivals Polperro and Dobwalls face each other in the semi final of the Shoe Boy Duchy League Cup at Lanreath on Wednesday evening (6.30 pm kick off). The winner will play either Nanpean Rovers or Foxhole Reserves (playing their semi final at St Dennis on Thursday 2nd) in the final scheduled for Sunday May 19th also at St Dennis. Match officials on Wednesday will be Nick Jeffery, Bryan Holden and Nigel Holwill.
Harry sawyers Posted May 1, 2019 Report Posted May 1, 2019 How come nanpean and foxhole play the semi at st Dennis and the final is at st Dennis?

Fanfare Posted May 2, 2019 Report Posted May 2, 2019 A bit like saying the FA Cup semi finals shouldn't be played at Wembley because the final is played there. Especially when Spurs were involved
Harry sawyers Posted May 2, 2019 Report Posted May 2, 2019 Not really as both semis are played at Wembley not just one.

Ok. 1997 Cornwall Senior Cup semi finals: Falmouth 2-0 Penzance (at Truro) Nanpean 1-0 Truro (at St Blazey) Final and replay at St Blazey. Both teams also played a league game at St Blazey too. Just realised my argument falls down as Falmouth won a cup game there.
Harry sawyers Posted May 2, 2019 Report Posted May 2, 2019 would Be nice for maybe another ground to take semi final gate money possibly a struggling financial club. Just a strange thing to do can you find another Cornish tournament that has always done this? Before this one

Originally I took it that you felt it was unfair on the teams. I just don't really understand the objection, why is it 'strange' and I would really like to know the answer.. Dobwalls & Polperro were given a venue very near them as were Foxhole & Nanpean. The St Dennis ground is one of the best in all respects for hosting both Duchy finals on the same day. using one ground for a semi and the final is certainly not something the League has 'always' done and i'm pretty sure it will have happened in many other competitions over the years. Come the end of April / beginning of May it is really hard to get clubs who are willing to host evening semis & finals and then we have to match up the location with the teams because if the grounds don't have floodlights then a kick off time of even 6.30 is pushing it for light and we can't expect teams to travel too far to get there in time..
