Paul Collings Posted April 25, 2019 Report Posted April 25, 2019 Liskeard started the game as favourites to secure the runners up spot (although mathematically also in with the most unlikely chance of snatching the title) and were entertaining local rivals Pensilva who themselves were fighting to snatch second place. Liskeard didn't really turn up in the first half and Pens went into the break deservedly leading 2- 0. Liskeard were a different outfit in the second half and within 20 minutes had levelled the game and were looking well on top. A superb free kick put Pensilva back in front with 15 minutes remaining and an intense 15 minutes it was as Liskeard threw everything at them but they some how managed to hang on and are now 2 points behind Liskeard with both teams having one remaining game. Entertaining evening and a good few spectators but damn cold and no tea hut open! The result also means that Polperro are confirmed as champions of Division Three with four games remaining. MattP 1
Paul Collings Posted April 27, 2019 Author Report Posted April 27, 2019 It was remiss of me not to point out that Dobwalls Reserves & Mevagissey Reserves are not out of the reckoning as runners up just yet either. Both would need Liskeard & Pensilva to slip up in their last games (Liskeard v Mevagissey & Calstock v Pensilva). Meva would need some big scoring wins and Dobwalls take on Polperro twice but it is - as they say - a funny old game.
