Do any teams in the Trelawny League or Duchy League charge admission?

Work took me into Devon so thought I'd take in a North Devon League game featuring adopted Cornish team Holsworthy (Reserves) and Kilkhampton. There are five divisions in the NDL: Premier, Senior, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2 and Intermediate 3. This was an Intermediate 1 game and was stunned that they were charging £2 admission. As this was basically a "junior" game I thought I'd pose the question.

For the record a mistake by the Kilk keeper after 28 seconds brought about the only goal in a poor game.

I've been to most Duchy grounds over the last few years and never witnessed a charge at the gate, some clubs with the luxury of willing helpers make a collection and i'm always happy to chip in but sometimes i'm the only one outside of the dugouts !!

When we as a league hold semi finals and finals we charge £2 (half a pint of lager) and always expect to get a few moans but not from people who can't afford it - just people who like to have a moan - i'm sure a few of you will be reading this now !!!

I think Nanpean we’re trying to charge in the first game of this season vs Newmoor in Duchy 4.

I remember people moaning about it!

I got this when I went to watch that game.

I said to the woman walking around shaking a money pot that I didn't want a raffle ticket, as I didn't know if I would still be there for the draw.

Her response: Well I could of charged you £2 at the gate, but I didn't, so you can buy a raffle ticket. (along those lines)

No, No you couldn't of charged on the gate.
So after her having a little rant, I bought the ticket so she would just move on.

So they weren't charging, but you had to buy a ticket or listen to someone rant at you for 10 minutes.

Whenever I go to a club always try to buy a cup of tea or something to eat before the game to help out. Rarely asked to pay as I run the line. When club's come to us you can tell the club's who work to raise funds, they all come to get refreshments to help us out

I always pay either by donation or entry fee even at my own club.

Football, contrary to popular belief...is not free!

Officials...£30

Food for players and officials £10/15

Hot water/heating £10/15

Floodlights if needed £60

.....and then there's the cost of pitch hire/rent/rates, pitch maintenance, playing kit, footballs, affiliations, and insurances. Surely, those who have the pleasure of watching should expect to put their hands in their pockets!?

Who can moan about paying £2. 🙈

I wasn't moaning about the £2, It was her attitude towards it especially when I didn't think you were allowed to charge to watch football in the Duchy League. Maybe I'm wrong.

To be honest, would rather pay £2 to watch Nanpean than St Blazey these days.

Also, I do know what is costs to run a football club in the Duchy League, being a manager myself. :)  Just a bit harsh to charge people to watch the grassroots of grassroots. I agree with doing a collection on match days, no problem with that at all. But don't be forceful towards it.

Keith B - Surely spectators paying for a beer is also helping the club out? No?

Watching Pz Reserves in Trelawny 3, my way for paying is giving £5 for a cup of tea and bag of crisps with no change. I missed a couple of games so next game I put in £20. I class it as my subs to help pay for the referee.
