Dave Deacon Posted April 3, 2019 Report Posted April 3, 2019 AFC St Austell have announced via Twitter that manager Damon Mulready has stood down this evening:- “It is with great sadness that we have today accepted the resignation of our 1st team manager @Mulready_D . The club would like to place on record our thanks for everything he has done for us this season and wish him good luck in the future! Assistant Manager @Slateeford will take over the running of the team until the end of the season. We thank him for this and wish him well.”
teflon123 Posted April 3, 2019 Report Posted April 3, 2019 Club needs to clear out more than just the Manager. Full of big time players who probably like to run/pick the team. New injection of players in the summer. Lee Hodges in line I hear. Leehh 1
Ian Pethick Posted April 4, 2019 Report Posted April 4, 2019 Lack of consistency feels like the story of St Austell's season. When they're hot, they can beat anybody (Parkway can testify to that this season), but too many off days. Considering the talent and experience they have in the squad, it feels like something has not been quite right. Was Martin Giles leaving a key moment for the team and management? Decent ground and potentially large support, it's a good job for an ambitious manager looking to make the step up, but they will have a few lingering issues to deal with on the playing side.
Dave Deacon Posted April 4, 2019 Author Report Posted April 4, 2019 Could they promote from within? Reserves doing ok

Whistle Blower Posted April 4, 2019 Report Posted April 4, 2019 Decent ground? With that slope and little standing cover. 🙄 Didn't they promote from within before and it didn't work out? Snoz have, as stated had some great results but also some heavy losses too.
100%cornish Posted April 4, 2019 Report Posted April 4, 2019 Good luck to Neil Slateford as his role for manager until the end of the season 1st job you need to do is get Martin Giles back at the club hes a real leader and im sure th players would respond to him on and off the field .Good Luck Neil from me and Smokie
The Big Bad Fox Posted April 4, 2019 Report Posted April 4, 2019 From the outside it appears to be a very cliquey club. It recruits players based on names, rather than getting the correct balance within the side. Leehh 1
teflon123 Posted April 4, 2019 Report Posted April 4, 2019 The Big Bad Fox is spot on. 1 Young lad currently at the club has stated the club is run by 4/5 players and is partly behind why the Manager has left. Not every manager has the same opinion on players and it seems that the Martin Giles topic is still talked about and brought up by certain people/players at the club and will always be thrown at the now departed Damian Mulready as to reasons in slumps in form. As said previous, new manager needs to come in and tear up the current squad and start again. Apparently a 5 man shortlist has been drummed up with 3 Managers currently active at clubs and 2 former pro’s who are still involved in the game but not in Management positions.
leedsunited Posted April 4, 2019 Report Posted April 4, 2019 If their was a Cornish betting circle, their is one manager's name I have heard more than once mentioned by footballing hirachy at Poltair & seems extremely keen on taking on the 'mantle'
100%cornish Posted April 4, 2019 Report Posted April 4, 2019 I expect Mr Lafferty will be in charge for next season hes had his break so if i was a betting man he would be my man

TheolderIgetthebetterIwas Posted April 5, 2019 Report Posted April 5, 2019 Steve McLaren...been everywhere else. mattelot 1
Ian Pethick Posted April 5, 2019 Report Posted April 5, 2019 Always surprised Wayne Hillson never gets mentioned in connection with any vacancies. Can point to the cups and titles he has won, and is well connected.

Footballlover442 Posted April 5, 2019 Report Posted April 5, 2019 Laffs back in the summer at poltair, plenty of players will be moving in the summer to different clubs for different reasons, time to give the 2nd team lads a chance and bring in extra quality to push for next season

When you watch and hear them during games, very few actually seem to be getting any enjoyment out of it. Many seem miserable bordering on angry most of the time. Marcus Grose 1

teflon123 Posted April 8, 2019 Report Posted April 8, 2019 Wayne Hillson like Lafferty need big budgets. Both only had success when they had the biggest budget in their respective league. Would not cope on anything less than a 1k a game like they were use to!!!
winston Posted April 10, 2019 Report Posted April 10, 2019 a 2nd team manager rarely in the country and others taking the reigns you mean.
