Temporary Dismissals (Sin Bins)

Recommended Posts

From the start of the 2019/20 season The FA have stated that the use of Temporary Dismissals (Sin Bins) will be used across all leagues that operate at Step 5 of the National Football League System and below, this includes all Saturday, Sunday, Veterans, Women’s and Youth Leagues and Competitions that are affiliated to or sanctioned by Cornwall FA or The FA.  In preparation for this change training will be given on the following dates at the locations shown.

Monday 29th April 2019 – Cornwall FA HQ – 7pm - 9pm

Monday 13th May 2019 – Callington Town FC – 7pm - 9pm

Thursday 16th May 2019 – Helston Athletic FC – 7pm - 9pm

Wednesday 22nd May 2019 – Cornwall FA HQ – 7pm - 9pm

Experience in other leagues clearly showed that any problems that occurred during the early days of this systems introduction were attributable to key personnel (Club Secretaries, Team Managers and Team Captains) failing to attend the training sessions.  The St Piran League Committee are keen to ensure that the introduction of this change goes as smoothly as possible and consider it essential that all potential member clubs receive the training.  All potential member clubs are strongly encouraged to have maximum representation at one or more of the training sessions.

Clubs are to pass details of the representatives that will be undergoing the training, which team they will be representing and which session they will be attending to Richard Pallot at the CCFA (richard.pallot@cornwallfa.com).

I must be honest and admit I wasn't in favour of this idea . I foresaw all sorts of problems , many of which are  expressed on another post . However we've used it here as part of the national experiment and it's worked well . Dissent  has been reduced , bookings are down  and the referees say that there is very little problem with the  time keeping .

The major problems have been , as always , the players and club officials who haven't taken the time and effort  to attend the courses , and are also unaware that the sin bin rule exists .
