RobinVanParkway
26/01/19 – Plymouth Parkway 5-1 Cribbs FC Written by Jack Horswell Five-star Plymouth Parkway back to winning ways at Bolitho Park A miserable winter’s afternoon witnessed Plymouth Parkway host Cribbs FC in the Toolstation Western League. Lee Hobbs’ Parkway came into the game fresh off the back after a fine 2-1 win against league neighbours, Clevedon Town. The yellows looked to get back to winning ways at home, following the loss against mid-table Chipping Sodbury Town a fortnight ago. Their opposition, Cribbs, were taking a 210-mile round trip to Bolitho for the second time this season. Tony Beecham and the blues were looking for redemption, after the 2-0 defeat they received back in November. Parkway lined up unchanged from the win at Clevedon with Billy Palfrey fronting the midfield. The Truro loanee announced in the week that he has signed a further one-month extension with the club. Cribbs would also resume similar outfit, with lone striker and last week’s goal scorer, Jason Vincent in attack. The Plymouth-born striker would be supported by Sol Wanjau-Smith, scorer of the dubious goal that saw the Bristol outfit knock out Saltash United in the third round of the FA Vase. The torrential rain did not put hold on the start of the game as Parkway kicked off proceedings and it only took two minutes for the game to see its first goal. A free-kick turned second attempt to cross by Shane Krac made way for Aaron Bentley to volley home past a helpless Cribbs goalkeeper. Cribbs responded in perfect style four minutes later. A somewhat pointless foul from Bentley made way for a Sam Iles free-kick to the left of the 18-yard box. An in-swinging delivery found Jason Vincent, who’s glancing header had Kyle Moore beaten. The Bristol side had a good spell for ten minutes after Parkway adjusted to what can only be described as the Plymouth equivalent of a monsoon. Decent football came from the midfield trio of Palfrey, Krac and Christian Pople as the sun began to shine down on Bolitho. On the stroke of half-time the impressive Mikey Williams linked with Adam Carter, who coolly slotted home just inside the box and ensured the yellows took the lead into the interval. Hobbs’ team talk spurred Parkway onto greatness with a magical 20 minutes. The third goal came on 52 minutes with neat play again from Williams led to the captain Krac finishing well low into the bottom corner. The game was put to bed on 57 minutes as Krac again turned provider for Bentley. A curling dead-ball found the head of the free scoring full back. His second and Parkway’s fourth. The icing on the cake for the Plymouth side came from a Cribbs mistake. Captain Jake Hodgson looked for his keeper, but a woeful pass set Carter free, who took his chance and killed the game. The striker slotted home to secure the three points in fine style. Parkway taking the points in a professional manner now go 2 from 2 and maintain sixth place in the race for the Western League Premier title. They move within three points of Clevedon with five games in hand. Cribbs stay 15th but can look forward to the GFA Challenge Cup semi-final approaching them in March. Plymouth Parkway travel to Roman Glass St George mid-week in hope on closing the gap on the top four. The final score at Bolitho, Plymouth Parkway 5-1 Cribbs FC.
