shocking game, Madron service men bullied and kicked the Falmouth youngsters off the park, ref gave the players no protection at all and at the tender age of 80 should know it’s time to hang his boots up.

onwards and upwards

It's a man's league not youth football.

There was no horrible tackles and no nastiness you just can't stand losing to madron

Did nt say anything about nastiness and if that’s what you gotta do against youngsters to make yourselves feel good then fair enough like you said it’s a mans game. Speaking to some of your lads they seemed nice enough, ref is a different matter lol. Good luck for season

Why keep going on about youngsters? You were beaten by the better team on the day.

Yes the ref wasn't the greatest but he wasn't the greatest for both teams.

You didn't moan about the youngsters when you beat us at your place

Trelawny 2

Falmouth DC 0 - 2 Falmouth Town

repeat fixture from 2 weeks ago; same result. Fully deserved our win today led 2-0 within the first 10 mins 2 stunners one from the half way line and one from an acute angle. Good game excellently reffed by Kevin Bennett’s and a fair clean game from both sides.

Div 3

Penzance Reserves 1-0 Storm

Three points to Pz but Storm also had chances. A new look Penzance side wasted quite a few chances, hitting the woodwork 3 times. Crowd of 27 kept on the edge of their seats as at any time Storm could have equalised from a bad back pass or their odd through ball. Storm keeper must have found some spray on glue as first half he was spilling everything but second managed to hold onto the ball!

Thank you to Nigel Jewell for refereeing the match.

If there was no nastiness then why are you saying the the ref had a poor game?

Get over it.... you lost to a team that beat you by playing men's football by the sounds of it...

Get rid of a ref that did a good job and you won't have a ref for a future game.

Real pleasure to be a part of this one, arguably both teams wasted good chances and on another day could have been different, really proud of the effort put in today and thanks to pz for the hospitality, a well reffed game where we showed were better than some of our results this season. Good luck for the rest of the season

Say all you like about refs it’s all been said before, I know if we did nt have a ref there would’ve no game blah blah blah, does that mean that there should be NO standard to which a ref has to comply??? Say what you like but everyone who walks out on the field on a sat avo deserves to feel protected yes or no?

Protected??? There were no tackles today that needed anybody to be protected. It's cos you've got a team full of youths that you feel you should be given special treatment and the duty of care is to look after your boys. Having a go a the ref at half time was a class move, hoping to sway his decisions for everything you shouted for.

Youre just bitter cos you got beat by madron and you expected to turn us over.

Protected yes....

Babysat no....

You admitted nothing was nasty so stop trying to blame the ref and look closer to home for the reason you lost maybe?

Yes ok that’s exactly it lol you boys were superb and the ref was awsome. You beat us a deservedly so there is no complaints there you seem to be repeating yourself in each message so take your time before you respond 😂. By the way about 4 of your players spoke to me during the game saying that the ref was embarrassing and 1 guy actually apologised after the game about the ref. But you were probably too busy shouting WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH like you and a lot  of your team did all avo for some strange unexplained reason which no one outside of Madron would understand 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Madron 5 - 3 Falmouth Utd.

2 nil up in 5 minutes made the game a lot easier for the home team.

3-1 at half time. Falmouth scoring with their only shot of the half thanks to a massive balls up from our keeper.

4-1 shortly after the break and Falmouth pulled one back from an absolute screamer. Great goal and keeper had  o chance.

4-2 then 5-2 and a frantic last ten minutes saw it 5-3 and Falmouth on top.

Final whistle and a win for madron.

Ref wasn't great but he wasn't great for both teams.

Some bitterness over the result cos apparently we bullied youths.  That is so far from the truth it's unreal. No dirty tackles, no stupidness and no contentious decisions.

Well done to mullion for going out of there way to come back to our club for a drink after today’s game. I think we will all admit it doesn’t happen as often as it should anymore.

Mate it's a dying art. The Falmouth Utd boys drove past our pub and didn't bother stopping in for pizza and chips.

I make the madron boys go to the opposition pub regardless of result

Half our team had to get back for work and half are too young to drive so lifts are very limited. You can bleat on about the so called bitterness all night if it makes you feel better but how can we be bitter if we admit you deserved it today??? Our youngsters will dust themselves off and go again next week, we lost first 9 in a row then won 6 out of 7 so we are headed in the right direction, I’m sure we’ll lose more but we ll be ok. You got your opinion we ve got ours that’s what makes footy great👍

This keep net is full of Falmouth United's management it's getting embarrassing now

Also what was the point of a asking what pub we went back to if you had no intention of coming back? Mind you it meant double helpings for the servicemen that beat you today.

Not bad for a group of old uns

Make sure no one upsets the kids though. They need their sleep and i Wouldn't want them to cry when they play in a man's league against ruffians. Oh no. None of them cried it was the management that did cos they lost to madron and a load of servicemen

Premier

Holman SC 3-0 Penryn (Jack Mankee (Pen) Nathan Williams & Adam Brown)

Game was a bit flat for the first 25min until Nathan managed to scramble a header in after the ball bounced off the crossbar. The visitors lost Dan Ellis to an injury and then Ash managed a superbly timed tackle that could of gone a bit pear shaped if he ballsed it up but just managed to get his well manicured toe on the ball before contact with the player. At the other end 2min later the Home side was awarded a penalty which jack mankee slotted and then had to retake and do it again due to either Sky Sports TV not getting the right angle or some naughty player infringing into the box a bit early HT 2-0 2nd half pretty much like the first with Adam getting the 3rd with 10 min to go. Penryn had a couple of players back today but still missing a couple who are off the naughty step next week so don’t think the ‘wheels have fallen off’ just yet going on a previous comment.

As for Holmans another real test next week with Mousehole visiting having just dumped Exiles out of the JC

Div. 1: Newlyn Non Athletico 1 (0) -v- (0) 2 Hayle Reserves

Well, true grassroots football returned to Saint Clare this Saturday when local rivals Hayle visited the Leisure Centre Postage Stamp (home of NNA). I am usually hit once or twice by a ball, in various areas of the body, when fastening down the goal net pegs prior to kick-off at the "Newlyn end", as the "warm up" consists of hitting balls towards the general area of the goal. The away team are often involved in warm-up routines, making it a much safer "pegging" operation at the other end. But this week, not a coloured cone in site, no circle of players doing a one-touch keep-the-ball-away-from-the-middle type thing, just a bunch of guys leathering the ball at the goalkeeper, full artillery mode, with the goal, hedges and surrounding scrubland all at risk of misfired shots. Wonderful. Bonus - I got away without being hit at both ends. Marvellous.

So, to the game, and quite a decent, evenly matched affair it turned out to be. It was 0-0 at half time, and to be fair, not a lot of goal-mouth action to that point. The teams were basically cancelling each other out. Hayle probably had the better chances, and I found myself at the centre of some controversy for flagging offside for what ended up being a disallowed goal. The infringement, being quite far away from goal, was one where the player was initially offside as the ball was played (thereby being offside), but the defender backed up, passing the attacker, so by the time the ball arrived to them, and they were engaged in trying to win the ball, the attacker appeared onside. Oh the joy of those instances, where unless you are in line and have that very good view, it does look "dodgy". The flagging always looks late too when you wait until the attacker is involved (being when the ball arrives - you put the flag up, literally when the attacker is onside, and the opposition start the "how is that offside" howling....). Anyway, it was offside.

Second half, Hayle got off to a flyer, finally breaking the deadlock. Newlyn steadied, and the game remained close. Again, I would say that Hayle edged the better chances, but Newlyn were looking threatening at times, and drew level with 20 to go when Callum Mitchell hit a low drive past the keeper after a good run. I thought the game would perhaps end in a draw, but the final word went to "The Beast", the 10 foot tall giant at the centre of Hayle's midfield. A long ball following a Newlyn attack floated into his path near the right wing, and faced with a strong challenge by the Newlyn centre back, he rode the challenge well with great balance and strode towards the box (well, about 3 strides from the halfway line in his case). For once, home goalkeeper Ricki was unable to stop the one-on-one poke-type shot and it dribbled into the side netting. 1-2 with minutes to go, and although Newlyn did produce a late flourish, with a guilt-edged chance to head a late equaliser, it was not to be, and Hayle secured 3 valuable points.

Wasn't there an issue when you didn't stop at Tregony after the game?

Not bad with ten players, three subs and three goalscorers! 😂

Ok. I'll rephrase it. The games I'm at I make sure the boys go back to the pub. Cant enforce it if I'm not there

Division 4.

Threemilestone 4-1 Hayle

A game of 2 halves down at Boscowan Park between 1st & 3rd in the league. Tms started strongly but after a few great chances missed by Glen Patterson, Chris Shackley & Tom Goodman they started argue amongst themselves & lose focus for a while. With about 40 mins gone Liam Patterson went on 1 of his trademark runs from the back, passing to Glen Patterson on the edge of Hayle box, who backed into his man & flicked the ball into the path of Chris Shackley who saw his shot well saved, but the league's record scorer made no mistake with the rebound to put the stones 1 up. Within a minute Hayle equalised with a swift counter attack through the middle allowing their pacey striker to get in behind & fire his strike into the roof of the net. After a few stern words from the manager & senior players Tms came out a different team in the 2nd half. Straight from kick off Jake Merrifield played the ball out to Will "Logey" Harvey who put the impressive Tom Goodman in down the right, Goodman clipped a ball towards the back post where Chris Shackley was waiting to side foot the ball into the far top corner. Tms then began to dominate Hayle, who never gave up but struggled to deal with the size of a tms side that seemed to win every header. On the hour mark Glen Patterson brought down kick up field from goal keeper Richard Williams & clipped a ball with the outside of his boot over the back line for Chris Shackley, who slammed the ball home in typical fashion to complete his hat trick. Despite making 5 substitutions the stones continued to press for more & with 5 minutes to go Shackley got on the end of a long ball from keeper Rich Williams, rounded the Hayle keeper & stroked the ball home for his 58th of the season. Credit to Hayle who gave a great account of themselves, superb to see them competing after struggling to raise a side a few weeks back.

Had 92 goals in 24 games in the old West Cornwall Sunday League.bout 30 years ago!! Reckon Chris could beat that with half a season still to go! Be great if he got 100!!! 😃👍

We've only got 5 league games left sadly mark, would need 2 good cup runs and him to average nearly 5 a game.
