Dave Bartlam
Trelawny League Homeless Donation Week ***Video contains a few "F" words*** Dear all, Did you know that Cornwall is in the top 10 list for Homeless People in the UK? Last year alone, it was estimated that the County had 580 individuals sleeping rough on our streets. You may have also seen this week in local news that a fence was put up in front of a shop in Penzance to prevent homeless people from sleeping there, sheltering from the rain during the night. You may have already noticed that the temperature is decreasing and we are set to have another wet and cold winter. There will be guys and girls out on our streets over the winter and Christmas on their own trying to keep warm and dry. Every Week in the Trelawny League, hundreds of players and volunteers turn out for their side. There are 68 teams in this League with a total of 2181 registered players. We would like to ask that our clubs get together this week and ask their players/volunteers to turn up to their games with ONE (or more, if they like) item which can be donated to the St Petroc's Society for our homeless people in the Trelawny League catchment area. I am more than happy to come to your club and collect the items once you have them ready for us... I will then get them all together and donate them on behalf of the Trelawny League member clubs to the Charity. The Items we would like to see are - (Obviously non-exhaustitive): Toiletries (toothpaste, soap, shower gels etc) Canned Food (with ring-pulls, preferably) Socks Shoes/Trainers Warm clothing Towels Sleeping Bags Hats Underware Duvets Mats (Like you'd take camping) Scarfs Gloves Thermal Clothing If your club are willing to help us with such a worthy cause, please let us know so that we can add you to our "recognition list" and also make arrangements to collect the items at a convenient time. Clubs that have signed up to collect items from their players this week so far: Lanner FC Trelawny FC Threemilestone Wendron Constantine Madron Tregony St Erme Perranporth Penwith Exiles Redruth United
