Moonraker1969
There are not to many posts regarding Peninsular West sides which is a shame as there are some good teams and good players, particularly in the top half of the division. Would make interesting reading to have more match report posts to read and get a little insight into all the Penisular West clubs. For those interested and given Liskeard v Mousehole fixture today, here's a short personal overview of those teams currently at or near the top.. Mousehole. A quality, pacy, great passing pressing footballing side. They create LOTS of scoring opportunities but although having scored 37 in 10 games could easily have had so many more with better finishing. As I've said on a previous post, probably the best technical side in the division and a pleasure to watch. Liskeard. Another tidy side, unbeaten in the league, but not a patch on Mousehole's possession based football. Often play on the break with attacking wing backs perhaps create fewer game chances than Mousehole but have a clinical finisher in James Lorenz. By no means a one player team but Stop Lorenz, Stop Liskeard ? Porthleven.. The underdogs ? Pre Season predictions did not see Porthleven feature as a top three-or even with few, if any, as a potential top five candidate this term. Attractive football from the back and through the thirds with early balls, usually from wide to the striker (s) has brought 41 goals in 11 games. They can play good early passing football but also have a bit of grit and a little know how. Have had so many short and long term injuries Alan Carey and Kev Richards have done incredibly well to keep picking up the points and keep the team firing. The Fishermen could go back to the top of the league this afternoon if they can beat Bere Alston and if Mousehole were to win at Liskeard! A side that has shown they can dig in when the going gets tough. Apologies to Wadebridge and St Dennis who are also in the top group but I can't really give an opinion on them having not seen enough of them yet..?. It's tight at the top, great to follow, often good football to watch and certainly all to play for at the top of the Peninsular West league.. Couple of hours to kick offs? ENJOY..
