Penzance v St Erme - OFF

Called off by Penzance after a qualified ref had checked the pitch and confirmed it 100% playable, the league stating that it should be played. However it’s not and I’m sure Penzance have their reasons as to why it’s not going ahead.

Oh well Christmas shopping it is! 😳🤬😳

How can the club call the game off if a ref has passed the pitch as playable?

They can't.

League Rule 23D

The appointed Referee shall have power to decide as to the fitness of the ground in all matches and the decision shall be final subject to either in the case of a ground of a Local Authority or the owners of a ground, the Representative of that body is the sole arbiter and whose decision must be accepted unless the ground is declared fit for play.

Rule 20e(iv)

The fitness of the ground for play is to be decided in accordance with Rule23(D).  A local referee may be called in to assess the fitness of the ground for play where appropriate and he is to inform the match referee of the results of his inspection.

To be honest chaps as players we know as much as you. A qualified ref had a look and said it was playable but we were told last night by our manager the game was off as the pitch was unplayable so players made other plans. We are just as annoyed as you guys and it's no fault of our own. We can only apologise. We tried to get a team together but could only get 7 players as a few had already been given to the first team. Bit of a lash up to be honest

Not your fault at all. We've only lost one game to the weather today- Praze. That was because the Parish Council declared the site unusable. That also had a referee in attendance to come to the same decision.

The other games that have been lost were due to no appointed referee.

Appreciate you honesty mate, was a bit of a nightmare this morning as were getting told different things and trying to inform our players. The league have stated that no games can be called off the day before anymore so who knows. I’m sure the league will sort it out.

Madron 1 - 3 Falmouth United

Played in atrocious conditions on a 3g pitch that was starting to flood.

Reffed by one of the Falmouth boys who did his best. Only one contentious decision with a blatant offside for their 3rd goal, flagged by the linesman and promptly ignored.

Falmouth did deserve to win and are a quality, young, fit and good footballing team. They didn't react to the madron boys rough punishment and kept their heads and showed us how footy should be played.

Well done Falmouth and good luck for the season

Your managers fault then, didn't help know a ref was going to look at it?

I agree with everything you say except the score was 4-1 and it was the 4th goal that was flagged offside; I disagree that it was a blatant off-side though, the Madron lino was so far behind play (as he was for most of the game), he couldn't possibly have known if he was offside or not.

It was a tough test for the Falmouth lads today and earlier in the season they would probably have succumbed to the banter and physical play, but lessons have been learnt. Well done!

3-1 or 4-1 It doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

I can only go by what our lino said and he doesn't cheat but hey ho it's done now.

There will be some tougher games than today for you but if you play like you did against us, hopefully no rain, you'll do fine.

Keep the youngsters together and the future is bright for Falmouth utd

Holmans 1 - 3 Frogpool

A physical game played in the tight spirits. Referee David Smith did well to keep a lid on a few challenges in tough conditions, great to see a ref keeping his cards in his pocket and talk to the players explaining decisions.

Frogpool goalscorers

Kevin Smith

OG

Nick Lasseter

All the best to Holmans for the rest of the season
