Div 4

Lizard Argyle 5  New Inn Titans 2  h/t 0-1

Minute's silence for a Lizard official held before the match.

Strong wind blowing up the pitch towards the clubhouse with New Inn having the first use of it.

The Lizard youngsters played some very good football in the second half highlighted by a hat-trick of scoring corners.

Well done both teams and thanks for the hospitality.Great to catch up with Lizard stalwart George Carter too.

Stithians 0  Chacewater 8  h/t 0-4

Newlyn Non Athletico (4) 4 -v- 3 (1) Goonhavern

This was grass roots football. There is a lot of grass on the pitch too. The away team with the bare 11. No extras, no family brought along, no one to run the line, no one to watch on. The home team, scrambling together 2 subs. Both used to run the lines. No one to get the balls when they go in the hedge. The spectators, 5 of them, being 2 injured Newlyn players, one old Newlyn player, one dad watching his sons, one brother accompanying his dad.

To the game, Newlyn looking commanding in the first few minutes, but once Goonhavern had settled, a more even affair. The opening goal for Newlyn, you've heard of the pile driver, the screamer, the bullet. This was none of them. A looping long range effort that the diving keeper could only divert into a different part of the net than it would have otherwise hit. Denzil Keast breaking the deadlock. Yes, we were surprised too. Back came Goonhavern, and one of those bobbly, grass-cutter shots, the keeper has it, it's heading the for the corner, the keeper will surely get it, it bobbles closer to the corner, the keeper is diving, the ball has rolled into the net. 1-1. However, blink and you miss it, Newlyn hit back with 30 seconds, 2-1, and add more pressure to the away goal, forcing in 2 more goals to make a comfortable 4-1 HT lead.

Second half was very much more even. The Goonhavern keeper did make a couple of very good saves, Newlyn couldn't get that further goal to make the game safe. Goonhavern were not threatening too much, but always in the game. Then, a long range effort made it 4-2, and with time running out, another up-and-under ended up in the net. 4-3, and you began to wonder. But, the final whistle sounded and 3 more valuable points for Newlyn.

Played in great spirit by both teams, excellently refereed, and the 5 spectators will have left contented.

St Just 0 - 2 Frogpool Res D3

somehow hit the post 4 times and bar once. St just keeper making a couple of great saves! Great credit to our squad long away trip, not many will take 16 players down to St Just! 4 of the 5 subs had a hand in the 2nd goal!

goalscorers;

Kevin Smith

Cameron Hamshaw

Thanks to Referee Neil Stephens. Great to have a ref who explains his decisions and has a laugh during the game :)

good luck to St Just and look forward to return fixture

Mariners 2 west cornwall 6.Dissapointing day for us missing key players from the start, playing with the wind 1st half only!  scoring 1 should of been 2 with the ref giving the goal only to chance his mind! after West complained,I knew 1 nil up at the break was never going to be enough and the 2nd half was going to be backs to the wall job and what i thought was right.West 1st goal was off side again ref wasnt sure and looked confused but in the end gave the goal 😭.All in all West cornwall were the better team today and used the wind far better than us and took there chances. Thanks to them for coming back to the pub.all the best see u in the return.

Goonhavern 2 madron 2

Another case of missed chances for madron. We had the lions share of possession and so many chances i lost count.

2-0 up with 20 minutes to go and goonhavern came back to steal an unlikely point.

Some dodgy linesman calls again in this game, from both sides I must add, with the home lino definitely needing to learn the offside rule.

The ref was class throughout and both teams played the game in good spirits. Just a shame the game was ruined by dodgy calls.

Ours won't be running the line again as there is no need to cheat to win.

Onwards to next week for madron

Your going to get it I’m afraid.  9 out of 10  assistants are probably subs who don’t really want to do it so you will get odd decisions

Division 1.

Perranporth Reserves  0-2 Mawnan reserves

Another tough game for us against a strong team at the top of the league.  We were a goal up at half time, then had to withstand a lot of pressure at the start of the second half.  We scored the 2nd with a counter attack and then defended well to seal the win.

Thanks to Perranporth for a good game and the food after.

Our assistant had a rebrief from me at half time and we changed him cos it's embarrassing when it's obvious they are not making the right calls.

Cant say much for the opposition guys as that's not my call but it was obvious he was making questionable decisions
