League Cup = Dobwalls 3 - 2 Lifton

Nipped a couple miles up the road to Lantoom today a bit concerned that the weather was going to be a problem but it stayed dry all match. A good, entertaining first half saw the second division  visitors make the most of third division Dobwalls' defensive  frailty and go two up after just ten minutes thanks to goals from Ben Sims and Liam Cairns. Dobwalls were creating chances but thwarted by a very sound Lifton 'keeper. The home side eventually drew level before the break, Ben Gaynor and Sam Humigan on target, to set up a great second half but it failed to live up to expectations.

With a couple of minutes remaining, and the less than welcome prospect of extra time looming, Scott Corson grabbed a winner for Dobwalls.

The match was confidently handled by young referee Josh Morford (nearly everyone but George Wright is young to me now).

As always it was great to relive the 70s and put the football world to rights with Dobwalls' regulars, Andy, Graham and Adrian.

Trip to St Merryn for the first time today , rained all the way down until I reached Victoria, I was made to feel really welcome at St Merryn, by both the home team and the visitors Tregrehan Mills. Pitch was looking fabulous. The away team came out like they were on rocket fuel going 3 up very quickly, but St. Merryn came back with a young lad scoring two absolute worldies, but the Millers then pull back to 2 in front , Second half saw the home team pull one back with the lad getting his hat trick goal , Game on , St Merryn then started to put things together and started to look like a team that could draw level , but the Millers snatched a break away goal in the last 10 minutes to pull 5 ... 3 a head. St. Merryn never gave up but the Millers held out with some stalwart defending to win . I really enjoyed my afternoons visit to St. Merryn , who were superb hosts making my afternoon enjoyable, all credit must go to The Millers as well . Both teams were a fantastic advert for Duchy Football , and I wish them both good luck for the rest of the season , it will and would be a absolute pleasure to officiate either side again this season or in the future. Thank you ? Ian Spurling ..... ( Referee ) . P.S stayed dry all game.

Sticker took us apart. Horrendous Mistakes again by us but doubt that would have altered the outcome. A very good young side and great set up. SNE got to dust ourselves down and go again.

Didn't see that scoreline coming, thought it would be a much closer game.
