Fal - Helst Div 3: Stithians 1 Falmouth Athletic 7

What a total mud bath! Totally dire weather conditions.

Then no showers after as the electrics were playing up. Gutted. And cold, wet, filthy. Ha Ha Ha.

Full credit to Sthithians who played the game with sportsmanship and the referee who officiated well.

FHFL 2

Trispen 3 Constantine 2

In tricky conditions Trispen battled to there first win of the 2007/08 season, this follows a relegation season with not a single league win to our name the year before.

Trispen went two nil up playing down the slope in the first half and went in two to the good at half time with goals from Elliott Jolly and Gareth Walker. The second half started with a fired up Constantine putting the Trispen goal under pressure, but with the defence creaking Trispen launched an attack up the other end which saw a fine finish from Mark Mitchell to put the Greens 3-0.

Constantine kept hammering away and can consider themselves unfortunate to only claw back two goals as a backs to the wall team effort kept the onslaught at bay.

With conditions worsening by the minute and the pitch turning into a muddy lagoon Trispen's stand in goalie Dave Hill produced at least three outstanding saves to keep Constantine out.

In the end the whistle blew, jubilation amongst the Trispen ranks, with many lads forgetting what that winning feeling is like.

A game played in a competitive spirit in poor conditions, well played to both sides and the referee. Hopefully we will not have to wait nearly two years for our next league win! :clapper: :drink:

Perranwell 2 - 1 Marazion

(Senior, I Boon)

As everywhere else today the game was played in a total mud bath!! Perranwell went ahead midway in the 1st half through Senior but should have extended their lead but poor shooting, an atrocious pitch and some great saves by the keeper kept the score 1-0 at half time.

The 2nd half continued in the same vein and Perranwell had plenty of possesion and chances but it wasn't until a corner was converted by I. Boon that they doubled their lead. The Marazion keeper made numerous saves to keep the score at 2-0 and in the last minute a breakaway was finished well by their young stiker.

The game was played in great spirit and really well reffed but I'm not sure when the pitch will be playable again?

Referee in the Stithians v Falmouth Ath game was Dan Pidgeon, he had an exceptional game in attrocious conditions. Dan played the advantage very well and as a spectator you did,nt even notice him out there. I think this young lad will shoot up through the referee levels "old head on young shoulders" springs to mind. Also full credit to both sets of players who spent much of the game slidding into one another then helping each other out the mud. Player/manager of Stithians who scored a penalty late on had a comical celebration after his goal by removing his shirt and belly-flopping in the mud straight off the pitch, then he had to stay on the touchline for a few minutes getting his shirt the right way round before he could return to the field.
